So I'm wondering, if toyota brought back the celica line, what would it look like? please don't say FT-86 cuz that's FT-86 not a celica. I'm just doing a bit of research, wondering what celica lovers would like to see in a new celica.

Some of my ideas were either to go oldskool like the mustang and camaro and make the new one look like a 1st gen celi

or

Keep with everyone on this futuristic looking style, sleeker bodylines and whatnot.

opinions?

I know you didn't want to hear it but I'm pretty sure the FT-86 has the best chance of being the basis of the new Celica. Also, it would be a 2013 or 2014 Celica...

Especially on the back of rumors that Toyota is looking into reviving the Supra there's no reason they wouldn't consider the 86 the new "Celica" even though the 86 draws inspiration from the Hachiroku it does look a bit like an evolved 7GC combined with a 6GC.

But...if it comes back I think Toyota will go with a futuristic design not a retro look like Ford and Chevy have done.

Toyota would almost invariably go for a modern look. The original Celica isn't exactly iconic like the Challenger, Camaro, or Mustang. If they made a modernized first gen, most people wouldn't know what it was and say Toyota copied the Mustang.

I don't think a new Celica would resemble the 7th gen at all. I think it would be more like the (slap me) FT-86 in terms of styling. The LF-A and FT-86 are going for that look, so that's probably where Toyota is headed with their sports car styling. I say that as if Toyota had big plans for sports cars...

screw that. Give me this! They can even call it a celica if they wish. Base model around 20k with say... a 200ish hp engine. Hyundai would never sell another Tiburon. It'd be over for them.

A Toyota throwback to the 2000gt... would be one sweet ride.

That's another inspiration for the FT86 and with the specs you suggested that's the very thing the 86 will be hitting.

the only thing i want Toyota to make is a new gt-four... that's not in wagon form like the caldina. or even a rwd V6 coupe that can compete against the G35, 350Z, genesis 3.5, etc. the SC430 doesn't count because it's fugly.

I met a senile japanese man down here last month who said his son worked for toyota designing rally cars. I begged him to tell his son to remake the gt-four...

I don't know if the eighty something yr old man knew what a gt four was though...

First of all I do not believe this happens... anyway. What I would like to see is 4th generation of GT-Four, another convertible and GT and ST model as 4th, 5th and 6th generation Celica were. I remember in 2005 there was first rumors about 8th gen celica and this picture you could find as "8th gen celica".

I feel design combination of 7th gen and 6gen. from the picture and that si what made sence to me for next gen celica... not what happens today.

btw.: I really do not believe they will call that concept FT-86 Celica. Really do not. They need something new to make pricetag as high as possible so taget the model to older buyers that has the money. And that would not work with name Celica. I bet for introducing of brand new name for concept FT-86.
