I recently tried fixing one of my lights that were out, so I bought new bulbs (HIDS) and it turns out that the bulb was not the problem. So then I checked the fuses, they were ok but I also pulled out the headlight relay while the headlight switch was on, when I plugged it back in, the headlights would not turn on after that, even with the switch on. I believ e I blew the relay, but If I switch my brights on the headlights work and later I found out that one of my ballasts was broken and that was the problem for the bulb. whenever I have to use my lights I stick a piece of wire in place of the relay and and always stays on unless I remove the wire. I also just got a used headlight relay from eBay but when I installed it, it didn't fix the problem. So I think it could either be the eBay seller gave me a broken relay? or is it something else? Also am I supposed to disconnect the battery when installing a relay? I didnt do that both times

hid have polarity differences...so if you plug it in wrong it won't work...although the connector male to female seem to fit like a puzzle...switch it up...It is harder to explain...just switch the connector by flipping the and turning them around to see if you have the polarity reverse...if reverse, it won't turn on.
one side works and the other dead...reverse the polarity and it should work, if it still doesn't, then the ballast is bad...switch the ballast on the passenger with the driver side and see if it works...test the good ballast with both bulbs to see if the bulbs is bad. usually it is the positive wire and negative wire are plug into the male and female adapter wrong (- from the female to the + male connector) where it should be (- from the female to the -male connector and + female to the + male connector). |

I think I get what you mean but understand that the lights work just fine when i use the high beams switch. I will try switching the ballasts around and the connectors like you said. But the use of the switch definitely failed after I unplugged the relay and plugged it back in when the switch was left on. How do I check if the relay is broken? |

oh...if you switched it when the light what still on...that will definitely blow out the ballast...just hope you have warranty still and tell them the ballast is bad. don't tell them you switch it out by unplugging while the lights were left on...power surge killed it buddy.

Ballasts are fine I already switched thebad one. If I place a wire between the relay terminals to replace the relay and it works, its the relay right? |

don't know about that one...never had to put a wire in the relay terminals...anyone else?

Might seem a little dumb but sometimes when people don't put the relay in right they push the little connector holding onto the relay down did you make sure all of the connections are at the same height bud? that was my problem with my anti theft fuse and relay.

Yea each time I put the relay back in, I'm able to have the headlights working only when I am pulling my hi beams switch, so it must be plugged in right. Yea it was the relay, an eBay seller sent a USED relay but it was actually a broken one... tested it in my multimeter and there was no resistance
