What sway bar bushing for the rear is similar to our 17mm Celica? Its so hard to find the rear sway bar bushings these days locally and sometimes online without having to get like energy suspension ones that come with the bracket. any cars similar bushing?

i installed 16mm energy ones this weekend, had to bend the bracket just a tad to make it fit nice against the chassis. (has not been driven yet with them)

im trying not to get any aftermarket ones at this time, at the most aftermarket OEM replacements only. its so tough to find the rear ones period. those energy ones basically has its own bracket, but i still want to keep this part with the OEM bracket and just change the bushing. I might end up just trimming out a smaller one for temp use, and just get an OEM Toyota.

Just curious, howcome you want to use the OEM bracket with a new bushing or stay with Aftermarket OEM replacement as opposed to Poly.
I just put the Energy rear sway bar bushings in, and yea I noticed a difference, but it wasn't a huuge difference to make it uncomfortably stiff or anything. And the bracket that it does come with is almost identical to the OEM braket. I think the energy bushing and braket would probably be cheaper than finding an OEM replacement for it. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

poly may be my only hope at this point since I cant find any. the poly bracket looks much thinner. They may look the same but the reason why the bushing comes with a bracket because it cannot fit the OEM bushing its a universal bracket to hold the specific bushing size. but yea do you know anywhere to get cheap poly ones. plus i probably dont want to deal with always greasing it to prevent potential squeaks that that material sometimes has. some people use teflon tape around the bar sometimes to prevent squeaks which looks ugly.

Moog makes them as OEM replacements if I'm not mistaken.

For the stock sway bar in teh rear, from energy suspension I got the 16mm.
I read aroudn that thats what everyone had used in the passd and was also the stock sizing. When you split the bushing and put it on, theres probably a mm or 2 gap in the opening, which is nothing much at all. I think with the 17mm there would be too much space around the bar, so I'd probably go for the 16mm. As for lubricating the bushing, I haven't had an issue with mine yet (although i have only had them on for a month) but if you get teh black ones they are self lubricating where as the red ones are not. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

Yepp I believe so.
Do a search and there was a thread about a month ago talking about rear sway bar bushings from energy suspension, and there was a direct link and part number to the ones that I bought. I tried quick but couldn't seem to find anything, but it should be around. Pretty sure those are the right parts numbers though, but I used the part number for the 16 This post has been edited by jordisonjr: May 31, 2012 - 10:50 AM -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |

I wish I knew where my camera was...but I was able to find a craptastic kids digital camera with low battery! Cause I love you guys so much, here ya go.....took some pics, as I managed to hold on to a few spare parts. Without further wait, OEM vs Energy Suspension Sway Bar Bushing Brackets. Please note, the battery in my caliper is going bad, so I had to eyeball these, but it's pretty close....
![]() ^ Now you can see the difference between OEM Rear Brackets and E.S. Brackets. ![]() ![]() ![]() When I did my rears with E.S. Bushings, I popped off the old bracket and used the OEM bracket. Not a whole lot of difference, other than two things. The E.S. is thicker, and wider (but just barely), the OEM Bracket will fit but it takes some forcing with the stock bolts to get everything buttoned up. If I were to do this again (and I probly will in the future), I'd reuse the OEM brackets with E.S Bushings, but use a slightly longer bolt to help with fitment (and probably the use of lockwashers) This post has been edited by Spider77: May 31, 2012 - 11:57 AM |

thanks spider, that looks great, I appreciate the time you took.
I'm sure some where down the line, me or you will make some kind of official sticky for it. ![]() for now, this serves as really good info and comparison. **Why do you say you would want to use the OEM brackets over the ES ones? Thanks for the kudos....i used the oem cause of the height difference in mounting. You can use E.S. brackets but you'll have to modify them or force them on. Between the two there is not much difference for it to be a concern to me, personally. |

For me, best place was off the Energy Suspension website because everything locally is extremely overpriced.
I believe they were about 35 shipped, which is a deal and half IMO. -------------------- -Protection mode, For when your amp tries to blow its load. 1995 Toyota Celica GTS - Daily Driver 1999 Chevy Cavalier - Winter Beater 1994 Honda Civic CX Hatchback - Dead My Celica! |
