With the first Midwest meet behind us, I can now post this up.
WARNING: ***Storytime with Chris*** Two years ago, one of my fellow mods over on Celicatech made the decision that it was time to sell his car to fund the purchase of a more practical DD. It was suggested that I purchase the car, but I was not in a financial position to do so. I passed on the offer and the car was listed on Ebay. The auction ended below the reserve, and he circled back around to give me one more shot at it. Stacy and I took it as a sign and scraped up the cash to buy it. That was April 2017. Fast forward to April 2019, two years of pushing this large financial commitment out of my head, and this pulls up in front of my house: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The trans had a high RPM grind in 3rd, so the PO put in a new trans as part of the sale. All buttoned up: ![]() ![]() Let me tell you, it's been a long 2 years... It's so small compared to the 4Runner! ![]() History on the car: It was imported to Canada in 2009 as a Grade 4 car. It was used as a DD for a few years before the mod bug bit and little things started happening. It was taken off DD in 2011 and has been a fun car ever since. It's not without it's fair share of warts, mostly cosmetic. It needs a complete respray, but there's no rust anywhere on this thing. I've put 300km on it since Friday, and this car is hands-down the BEST driving Celica I've driven. I've already put my SSRs to use... What a difference a set of wheels can make. ![]() Post Meet washdown: ![]() I'm stoked to see what the future brings! -------------------- ~bloodMoney

The conncetors came in the other day, so yesterday, after I fought with the difference in wire gauges for 10 minutes, I called Stacy in to take care of the wiring. Everything is all soldered up and now I have weather-proof connectors for the next time i need to do a big job.
.....And I need a new oil pressure sender.... At least the car is running good. Still need an alignment though. -------------------- ~bloodMoney

The last couple of times driving the car, I was noticing a lot more clunking going on in the front end, so I've been hesitant to drive it....
Turns out the banana arm bolt needs something like 127lbft of torque... I put the torque wrench them and got two full turns before they locked down. ![]() While I was down there, I double checked the torque on all the SS stuff, and that all checked out. I also noticed when putting the car back together, that the intake tube just at the turbo had given up the ghost. While it does make those cool turbo sounds that we all love, it really lowers the amount of filtered air that it going to the compressor. ![]() Side by side with the new Stoney Racing hose... ![]() Drove it to work today, and it's so much quieter now.... I'm kinda sad about that. The good side is, no more clunking! Now I just need to figure out why my steering clunks when I turn the wheel..... -------------------- ~bloodMoney

Very cool car man, if the clunking isn't a product of the inner or outer tie rods being no bueno... then it's almost got to be the rack and pinion I guess. I just rebuilt my rack and pinion which wasn't a bad job really. hardest part is getting it out of the car. This is all assuming it's the same system as a FWD GT...

Is it a big boy clunk or is it a little Honda clink? Used to see work steering racks and steering ujoints on Camries (Camrys?) that made some god awful clunking when turning.
