Approximately around 230-250k I started to have a few mechanical failures. Nothing that left me stranded save for a distributor cap that broke. As far as high mileage road trips, do what's needed/will be needed during the trip (oil/coolant, etc). If you want to take stuff with you then take the usual fluids that will allow you to get somewhere for repairs. What I do before extended (1500+ mile trip) is oil, coolant and trans fluid changes (it gives me piece of mind) I also check electrical systems, clean corrosion from battery/starter. While Im doing all that I look for any parts that might be suspect and change those as well. To track all of that I use the carfax app, its really quite handy.

I had that issue once.....in Texas.....during the summer. So it wasnt frozen. So I can say that sometimes the door lick actuator does fail sometimes. There is a tab that can unlock it, but due to its location its a pain to access (given the door is closed). My only option was either destroy door card to access the guts or cut open the door. Since I had a spare door laying around I had some fun. I have a video around somewhere of how it works after I cut it open.

Looking to buy a climate control unit. The knob on mine broke and I know these are on ebay, but I'd like to buy through here first.

Some places can build hose assemblies for you, if you have the old one or shouldn't be that much of a task.

The drier should be replaced whenever the system is opened up (as in component replacement). If your going to do this on a regular basis probably wouldn't hurt to be certified.

I've seen them around, almost tempted myself...but then am reminded of my last insurance claim how much this car is really worth.....maybe it's different in South Korea? But if you do it, let me know I'd be interested in the results.

there is a write up on replacing the solenoids...I think trdprove wrote it. should be in stickies somewhere. but what those guys said, the a140e manual has all you will need to know own to further troubleshoot.
If I was back in town I'd give you a hand, especially when beer is involved. But I'm in Flordia getting my EPA 608 certificate and additional schooling.

Yeah, it will cost me about 1.13 (plus regarding, and insurance...so boutique 100 or so)....that's the only reason I'm considering it.

It's just an idea I'm tossing around right now. I haven't even looked at the car and there is still a two month time frame till I do. I know mechanically what needs to be fixed, but body wise I dunno. right now as it is I can stand to make a bit off it. Any other issues will drive the price down.

a140e Trans? If your looking in the engine bay from the front by the Trans side, it's located next to the breather. you should be able to see the connector going to it.

hard price to beat, and I've already priced out parts to 16-1900.....it's just the labor that apparently sucks.

So, while I'm hanging out in Florida and offer came my way regarding get a 2002 SLK 320 with 114k miles. Ship quoted the guy 6700 to repair the issues. Which range from air filter, tie rod, tires, rear main seal, valve cover gaskets....Nothing really crazy. Haven't got a look personally (as I will when I move to Jersey in may).
So if I get it for a good price, fix it and sell it....maybe keep it? Figured I'd see if anyone has any experience on this car. Thanks.

How much for the steering wheel? I might be heading to Fort Worth weekend of Feb. 20th to visit a friend at his restaurant. How's the condition? Leather wrapped?

Prices and Pics posted.

You can ship the steering wheel, just make sure it stays ground.

USPS lists airbag modules as prohibited for shipping, and it sounds like a pita to have to go through special procedures. I'll leave it local sale unless there is an easier legitimate way that dosent involve 200lb resistant bags.
