Decided to start part 2. Part 1 got locked at my request, it was going no where. This time is final, and a tribute to my car...

This will mostly be a journal. Not a how to. No where else to keep records. You are welcome to ask questions. No 2gr info here, there is a separate thread...

This car has not been driven in 8 months, it has been used as a parts car, for the mr2, and the previous celica sold. Unfortunately, because of this, its getting new parts, or parts are getting blasted and painted.

The car currently is a sad vision, 7 years of use, last 3 of neglect...

few pics of current condition... ( no wipers, no knuckles, no seats, no steering, etc, etc, etc...)

DSCN1313

DSCN1308

DSCN1310

holes left from removing things..

DSCN1312

the knukcles ive got, are rusted....

DSCN1311

Most recently decided to pull all the wiring, for the cruise control. I will never use it so...

E3C0FF98

it was sent away

EED8DDA9

while i was there...

1FDA2065

then..

B483D95E

over the next few weeks will bring it back to life again.....

lol. i cant help it. Im working this week, but managed to put 2 hours in the car....

removed AC unit, and finished removing brown wire that feeds the cruise ecu at 16 pin.

DSCN1355

while i was there cleaned the a/c evaporator, and sprayed lysol....

DSCN1354

whipped out some flex tubing in various sizing, what is that? it looks like this...

DSCN1356

and then started to do the rewiring process, and halfway done there. I have to admit, its hard, but the results are great.

DSCN1357

i have some wiring upgrades to make to the other side, since there is no cruise control, now i have a stalk, and 4 empty slots at the clock spring. So I may replicate Daniels, radio controls...

wiring is a tedious process.

created a small harness of 5 wires...

DSCN1358

to use in the cruise control plug, to take advantage of the clockspring..

DSCN1359

looks now like this...

DSCN1360

then proceeded to rewire the harness again...

DSCN1363

and almost done for exception of the steering column...

DSCN1361

and here is my harness that comes from the cruise plug. it exits with the ac control plugs...

DSCN1362

dont know what ill use this for, maybe audio controls from the steering wheel. they are there as option...

and all this just took 5 hours, of soldering and taping...

thanks guys. I know its nothing to be proud, but i need to really clean this wires, and stuff i undid in the past. This is the last time i mess with my car....

today i finished the steering colum

DSCN1366

reinstalled the dash frame, and wired the amp wire on top of it to the center. i got tired of hitting it...

DSCN1367

im doing jdm fenders, so i figured i had to mess with this...

DSCN1368

all said and done.. Relocated the amp wire and tucked it under the fender, rewrapped the harness, after i had it all a mess. and it looks like this...

DSCN1370

moving onto the dash.., nothing too serious, just need to professinally tuck the harnesses for the jdm power mirros. those are hanging on the sides....

DSCN1371

once i install the drive by wire pedal, and plug some holes, i will be reinstalling the dash again, for it never to come out.... (crosses fingers) ....

well not that many, since working on the swap delayed me a lot. little here and there.

Since the FRS seats dont fit, got a steamer finally to steam the foam and rejuvenate it, and wrap the oem seats in leather...

DSCN1364

however, the stupid leather upper covers dont fit, they have somehow shrunk....

made a custom line for low pressure power steering. more info on the swap...

DSCN1469

cleaned the subframe

DSCN1463

and painted it...

DSCN1473

painted the power steering rack.

DSCN1464

and trying to hack some enlinks for the front.

DSCN1472

cant do the engine wiring because i dont have a spcific plug, and it sucks.. so im just doing bits here and there..

What did you do with those cruise control wires? I wouldve bought them

I started with what I know to do, I swap engine into my car, I knew it was too much work to make it a AWD. I kept it FWD. Went to take a crack at doing the wiring conversion. Than, I realize, shoot, this is out of my league.

That looks amazing man. I tried to paint a subframe as well but made the mistake of using por 15 in roll-on form. Next time I'll just use the eastwood stuff

that is nice one. You don't find those any more. Most of them are one piece with green screen.

With the 7gc e-brake, was it modifying the plastic trim on it to get it to work or did you have to do more?

I was looking at some 5th gens earlier and it seemed their handbrake was shorter as well. I guess for whatever reason they decided the 6th gen's should be ginormous.

i did not take pics of the process, i figured no one would be interested. Significant amount of welding is required...

I extended the tube that holds the screw, and the curve at the bottome that holds the cable. also had to modify both legs, extend on peg by 1 cm, and completely move a leg.

hahahah, yes they are the wires in the seats, i kept wondering whos going to ask... they were so badly rusted, that i decided to clean them up.

I had to rebuild the axles, as they were north axles, with a lot of rust.

I think I need to drop my Supra off at your house for about 6 months. I need some shiny new suspension parts too! It's strange to see such a familiar looking suspension setup but so shiny and painted, not all rusty and worn like mine...

So I just wrapped up a water pump job on a 2GR Avalon today, I'm pretty sure you'll need to remove your engine to do the water pump in your car if you ever need to. It's pretty tight, there's some bolts that don't even come out all the way, you have to just tilt things and raise the engine a little and even then it's hard. It all fits but it's real skin of the teeth stuff.

surprisingly no, there is not mount there. There was, it came with, but im not using it. yes its very tight. but it can be taken out with some technique. I have not done anything to the car, the cold temperatures, makes me not want to work. LOL.

So after an absence in the garage. after freaking back surgery, Good weather. Went back and revised what was missing for this badboy to run.

If it does not exist. Make it. So there is no low pressure line that will fit. So i finished the line i needed.

682B00E3

So it looks pretty. Need to wait to dry!!!

485168FC

After which i decided to finish up the custom high pressure ps line.

520CA9B5

With the modified bracket. It was installed

2739787B

Next step was the heater hoses...

7648613F

Then i went and prepared the return radiator hose. Well its hybrid. No other ways. I hate it but. It will be ok...

089411FA

After installed...

369EA338

0D13592E

Then installed the ac lines...

DAD23FED

There is 4 mm of clearance. Oh well. Crossing fingers...

8ECAE45C

Installed drivers side brake line

3FA2E79C

Then finished one axle...

0FE08BC2

Few odds and ends not pictures tightened the power steering rack, installed tranny seals... And replaced the belt....
Thats for now...

5C892438

Cheers....

Shaved looks a lot better in my opinion, but JDM fenders are a nice touch regardless! thumbsup.gif

A cap that's flat and is knobbed like a water spicket would work, I think that's how the one on the 7A was. Perhaps it or another like it would have the right threading.

Could try one off a 5s as well. It's not nearly as tall as that.

Worst case scenario, get some hood spacers where the hood bolts to the hinges and bump that b!tch up hahaha

i would require 1 inch spacers, which would make the hood sit so high, its ridiculous.....

extensive welding required, and modification, the angle of the seat cushion is not right.

Talk about tight clearances. Probably the best thing to do then would be to take some firm enough rubber that's oil resistant etc and make a plug/stopper.

I think hood spacers look retarded. And thse are only 3/4 inch and expensive at local harware store. Black chrome.

And the end look i dont like

Happen to just find them at ace harware.

Worst of all clearance.

is it hitting the bracing of the hood or the top part of the hood?
I know it's not ideal, but would cutting into the bracing help?

Put up a pic of where it's hitting under the hood please sir.
and I know it's a tight fit but does the hood close with no cap ? or no close without damage ?

The picture posted on the red view is with the hood closed. It closes with no cap. I already cut the bracing on the hood for the cam sensor.

I have ordered a slim cap. When that gets here ill cut the space i need. I hate to cut the hood. The spacers are not growing on me...
I have tought about relocating the oil filler in the future. I hate tight clearances.....

I rather cut and retack bracing than have to deal with hood spacers, at least when it's all said and done it really won't be glaringly obvious the bracing was cut in a few small spots.
