^what generation celica is that?

Mark 3 VW Jetta. If you thought an ST auto Celica was slow, you have obviously not driven a 2.0 NA auto VW. It has the torque, but it doesn't have anything up top. I hate the way it shifts too. But with a manual, they get about 35mpg. It's a great daily driver.

Use a panty-hose. That's what I do. It opens it up and keeps the chunks out.

You can say whatever you want about how the cars look on paper and what not, but don't call me ignorant. I've raced, and I've raced a lot. I'm newer into autox, but I've been on the drag strip and dirt track for years. A car on paper is simply that, a car on paper. Look at the Mini Cooper, it looks really bad on paper. But the thing rules. That's just how some stuff is. I understand this is the internet and personal testimonies don't mean jack crap on here, but I know what I know. Jay, you say that FWD sucks and no "dream cars" are FWD. Show me a STS capable RWD car besides the 240sx. Look at the number of race cars out there and find out exactly how many are FWD and how many are RWD. Obviously you won't see any FWD Skylines or Mustangs, but they aren't the only "race" cars out there. The SRT-4, RSX-S, Integra R, Sentra SE-R, Civic Si, and the Celica amongst others have more than proven themselves out there. Jay, you're a smart guy, I just think you’re a little off on this one. Tin_Foil, **** you, man. You're an idiot.

Send me a pm of what you would like to get out of the intire car. I'll pick it up, if that's okay.

I would just try a locking differential in the S54 first. I bet it can handle a lot. No need to dump any more money than you have to into the car. btw, I would love a LSD for the S54, that was reasonably priced.

I just have to say to that.. I'm one of those people that have been behind the wheel of all three.. they all have their advantages and disadvantages.. the issue with all of them is the driver a good drive will never say one type of car suck. he or she would just fine a way to use the advantages of the car to its full potential. doesn't seam like your doing that with your celi..

Can I get an AMEN?

I've got a buddy with a 240sx with a SR20DET swap, and he thinks it's great and he's so fast. Well, from stop light to stop light, he can out run me if he shifts right. But any other racing and I would stomp his ass. He's spending laods of money on parts for that thing, and he doesn't even know were the local track is. He just wants it for bragging rights. He's a good guy, but his methidology is a little off. And I'm getting really sick of people who do stuff like he's doing going around talking about how much FWD sucks because they have no idea what they are talking about. I'll try to make this my last post here. I just had one of my buttons pressed and it seems to irritate me everytime I open this thread.

Update here. I'm rebuilding my motor right now, and Miro has his motor freshly rebuild too. So as soon as I get mine put together and get a few miles on it, we'll test them out. Should give us a pretty good look at how these cars perform. We couldn't test them earlier because I had a valve sticking, so I only had decent compression on 3 cylinders. This is kind of exciting. My car won't be together until next Monday, and I'm not sure how long after that that I will feel comfertable with reving it too much.

i duno my 240sx felt faster than my celica. i liked the 240sx more cause it had more available parts. people have SOHC KA24E engines that are 700hp+ KA-T.org

There are guys out there pushing 500hp from a D15, that doesn't mean in it's stock form that it's a great engine. I have driven a 240sx with a KA20DE, and KA20DET, and they really aren't that fast stock. The turbo even had some mods and I could hang right with him until about 5k rpm. And it doesn't really matter because like I said, they are comparable motors with equal potential. High torque lower hp motors.

no way i had a 1990 240sx and it had the SOHC engine ka24e. that **** was fast. its ALMOST the same but 240 is more torquey cause its a truck engine. i miss my old 240sx.. :[

o get some road brain from a chick and youll drive faster LOL

Everyone I have talked to that's owned a 240 says that SOHC KA sucked. If you really think it was fast, you have not been in a fast car. The KA24(D)E motor may be a truck motor, but the 5sfe is a midsized sedan motor.

For that price... swap in a 1MZ

Mmm, 1MZ. That would make one wicked all motor set up. Too much torque to put to the ground effectively though.

Looking to pump up my 2.2 L, Would like to build it up: looking to find some info on STOKER KITS, pricing and where to get them

Why put a stroker kit on a motor that actually needs the oppisit to be a better performing motor?

I'm trying to figure out how much louder mines going to get.. I got the header and will put that on tonight..

currently I have a 2 1/4" cat back with resonator and Magnaflow Muffler (Silencer out) = gets nice sound but fairly quiet..

You need to reinforce it. Mines broke 3 times. Brace it to the end at the flange. Don't put heat tape on it either. It gets so hot it'll break like glass.

i think autozone has em...they're called "energy suspension"..last time i checked they have tons of sizes available....including teh size for the oem sway bars....

I just called, they said they don't have them for the 94 Toyota Celica GT. They must have it for something else the same size. But it's going to be hard to figure out what has the same size bushing as my car front and rear.

I'm working on getting some sway bars one day. I'm try to just stiffin the car up to make what I have work to the best of it's ability before I upgrade. I think I'm going to have to upgrade though if I want to do much more. I just checked the Solo2 STS rule book and I don't think I'm aloud to add any more braces. Good thing I don't have anymore or I would have to report myself. I'm still interested in seeing what everyone has.

I'm trying to find ways of making my car better for the track, so I've been looking through old forums of braces people have put on their cars. I want to see an update of this. Who has what? Side braces, underbody, struct tower, 3 point rears, 2 point rears, and anywere else. I'm going to try and slowly make the car into a solid chuck of metal. All I have are front and rear strut bars right now, but the car is pretty solid. When I take them off, it feels loose as an SUV. Post pics and opinions!!

There is no regulations here in WV, at least in Morgantown. I can drive right by a cop and give it full throttle with open header and they just keep driving. It's a bad idea, because they will find a way to harrass you if you piss them off. Cops around here seem to be pretty good actually. I haven't had any problems with them. I do know some guys with high compression race motors driving the streets with open headers, and they haven't been pulled over.

Thanks for the help guys,

Another question.... is the GT-S lower than the GT, if so by how much?

Nope, same thing. They just called them different things in Canadia and USA. The GT-S in Canadia is just a GT that has all the fancy bells and wistles. Same thing as a USA GT with Sport Suspension package. Just more options. Look up the sport suspension package if you 3-4 hours to read about pretty much nothing. They did come with a different type shock too.

I got one of these about 4 months ago and put in on my car. Now I'm putting a stock one back on. It's not really worth it unless your going to boost. And even then, I would rather have a head gasket fail under high boost than some of the other things that could.

may i ask why your removing it?

A valve stuck on my new head. I was running 3 cylinders for a while franticly trying to find out what was going on. I'm glad it was just a valve. I was worried that it was a broken ring and I was going to have to boar the block or replace it. The head was under warrenty though, so I just got a replacement. Hopefully this time it won't give me problems. I am doing a full rebuild this time though instead of just a new head. I got too worried that the fresh head was going to mess up my 160k bottem end.

What kind of axles you running? For a drag car, the axles are going to take one heck of beating especially with some rock crusher gears. I can't say I wouldn't love some strate cuts, but I know I don't have the power for them to be of much use. I just want to hear them wine.

BUMP!!! Some one pay attention, I want urethane bushings!! If someone has them out due to swaying over with new sway bars and mounts, I would at least like to have the measurements on them. The inside and outside.

If you really think that FWD sucks, then you don't know how to drive it. Make things easier on yourself and just get an AWD car. With a FWD you can enter a turn faster and most allow for sigificant wieght savings and flexability with tires. With drag racing, the FWD and the RWD are pretty close to each other. AWD is the one with the handy cap, unless your talking street cars. AWD is limiting on tires you can run with 2 diffs. RWD doesn't hook up on ralley, and there aren't many cars out there that are RWD and technologicly advanced and cheap at the same time. FWD has it's handy caps, but most are just due to impropper set up and people not knowing to drive them properly. But, driving a FWD is hard. I hope to one day master it myself.
