Hey all, been a car audio enthusiast for quite some time now and wanted to start a thread for posting pictures of your car audio setup.
I currently have a JVC in-dash DVD 7", purposely bought the non touch screen so people wouldn't dirty the screen up.
Speakers are stock and always have been, they work great, my deck has a built in hpf and they already sound great.
As for subwoofer setups I've been all over, my very first setup in the celica was a 12" MTX 9500 hooked up to a Hifonics Brutus 1600watt rms amp, then the amp fried(sub was too power hungry even with a 1 farad cap). So then sold that and got 3 8" JL W6's, one of the tinsel leads came undone eventually and got rid of those too, traded for a xbox360 and a bunch of games. After about a year I finally decided to get a new subwoofer setup. Guy here on base was lazy and didn't want to throw his setup in his new car so he sold it to me. I currently have a 12" Alpine Type R hooked up to a 1000watt RMS Alpine amp. I'll tell you this current setup is cleaner than my others, it isn't as loud but I'm more for SQ more that SPL now. Now its you're turn guys/gals. If you have any questions regarding car audio send me a message, I'd be more than happy to help you out.

Pioneer DEH-2000MP head unit, Alpine SPS-17CS 6.5's.

Nothing special. I did have pics somewhere of the speakers installed, can't find them...

nice man, pioneer makes great decks, and alpines speakers are amazing sound quality, question though why did you go with type s over type r, I've never really looked into the different speakers, i know there's a difference between sound loudness with the subwoofers but I wasn't sure about the speakers, is there really a quality difference or what is it? do you have an amp powering those speakers?

type r's are much better speakers than the type s's.
the type s's are the "bang for the buck" speakers, and that pioneer deck is a very basic deck as well

Both are budget, in regards to spolski, and both were birthday presents.

The Alpines were on sale (50 for each pair) and the deck was around 100, so both were obviously budget...but it does what I need it to do, and that was to replace my blown stock speakers and work with my iPod. The speakers are powered just by the head unit, and it's apparent sometimes when they start to distort in higher ranges and at higher volumes. But they're pretty clear overall, and would probably be perfect with an 8 or 10" sub added.

I don't consider my install what I want, so I will show at least one part that I am happy with: my rear speakers.

AVI 5 1/4" EL-130 components

I had to build an MDF adapter ring so that they would mount to the stock location as well as a bracket to hold the tweeter in place. I feel like they are component speakers almost converted into a coaxial speaker, but which sound a lot better.

Nice man, how would you rate those over stock speakers?

a zillion times better!

...but since zillion isn't really a number I will have to go with "much better." The speakers have a greater range and clarity than the stock speakers do and can also handle higher volume levels. The treble in my car is much nicer now that I have 4 tweeters too smile.gif

See eventually I'll need to do that, my sub drowns out most of the sound in my car currently lol, the hpf also makes it a lot cleaner for highs and mids

OK so when I got my Curren It had the factory speaker front and back and no headunit

So 1st off I installed my head unit
1) Note the finger prints - Ignore the blue numbers and bad spelling, I was looking into doing digital guages but finaly I thought it would clash with the Analog guages and I'm looking to get the guages soon.

2) I installed 6.5" 2 way Pioneers in the back (Still have to put in the Spacers)

3) I installed 2" tweeters in the front window "sails"

4) I installed 6.5" Nova 3 way in the Doors

5) Borrowed an Amp from delusionz thumbsup.gif
6) Bought a 2nd hand Sub (for $5)

mad.gif mad.gif BUT this has now changed as delusionz asked for the amp back and the Sub was rubbish thumbsdown.gif

So I decided to make a few changes biggrin.gif

1) Changed the head unit to an Alpine FVA-W306 [4 x 45w output and a rca output + volume control for the sub] thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

2) Installed 8" 3 way Ulitmate Titanium II Full Range Speakers in the fron doors - Left the 6.5" Pioneers in the Back. thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

3) Bought a 2nd hand (but good) Pioneer GM-X802 (good for 300W in Mono mode) + (Sitll have to change the lights to Blue) thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif [now delusionz wants to swap amps with me] laugh.gif

4) Bought another 2nd hand Sub (Mutch better than the 1st one) thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

I just love the Sound in my car now (But I still have to sound insulate it). biggrin.gif

I mostly listen to Dido (great with lost of base, You can not beleve how good her songs are with good base, Simon & Garfnkel, Jonny Kleg and Katie Melua.
The setup I have workes great for this. I have not staged the sound as I prefer to be imersed in it rather that have it up on a stage in front of me, This way I feal that they are
singing just for me and not to a crowd.

PS. Im not a total lamo biggrin.gif I have also have Black Eyed Peas, The Eagles ( rolleyes.gif oops just gave my age away), Paule Simon, and lots more
The headunit and Amp are so powerfull that I have never taken the volume above 23 (out of 30)

When you have time have a look at "http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=63338&st=0" to see the work I have done to my Car.

It's an old head unit so No you dont but a lot of head units have seperat base rca connections and controls.

What about modding the amp so you can controle it from the front??? wink.gif

Send me a few pics and I'll see if I can come up with a few idears. biggrin.gif

Nevermind i figured it out, i turned down the sub on my head unit to barely nothing and set the sub to a comfortable level, then now if i want the sub louder i can turn the gain up on my head unit.

It's not the most expensive of installs but suites my needs and budget:

Here are all the parts that make up my install

Wiring Kit (0 Gauge)

Head Unit (bit old but does the job)

Boot Install (the Business end)

Tweeters in doors

Component boxes under front seats and 10 CD Changer under passenger seat

Will get some pics up when the boot is finished biggrin.gif

Here are some pics of my budget setup.

I've got a set of audiopipe Ipipe 2-way's in the front and two infinity reference 2-way's in the back with the MTX 200 RMS running all four. Obviously, I'm running 2 10" AfterShocks and the MA Audio 1200 RMS amp is pushing them. The 1.2 Farad cap is attempting to hold it all together lol smile.gif

The deck is an older Kenwood that I've had for years and hanging from my vent is the XM unit.

Oh and the speakers, subs and amps cost me $175 and a couple of packs of cigarettes smile.gif

Needs some cleaning.... But heres the amp & processor under the drivers seat along with the mess of RCA cables that accompanies them.

Heres the driver's door. Aluminum tweet covers show pretty nice through the stock black.
