I think it's vacuumed switched, unlike most cars that have a electronic pressure switch.

QUOTE (cheela @ Jul 23, 2018 - 12:09 PM) *
parts I still need to get are:
- axle carrier bearing bracket
- GT radiator
- GT radiator hoses & various other engine hoses
- Power steering compenents? (I think I need the GT ones)
- gotta double check the engine mounts and see which ones I have/need still
- GT throttle cable? Does the ST one work?

Let me know if you want any of these parts off of this GT parts car that I have. It's an auto, but the only thing taken from the bay was the starter.

yeah, definitely. I was gonna grab parts from the junkyards here but they all overcharge for little things and I've only ever found one GT there. the rest were STs. lol
as long as the parts are in good running condition I'll take them.

I gotta check the AC lines and see if any of the ST stuff is usable too.

Will do, when I get home tonight.

Read through one of Dr Tweak's 7a->3s swap threads and he said the AC lines do work with a bit of bending so I'll try that.

there's more truth to that then you think.

That engine hoist in the pics is borrowed from my brother-in-law because the one I ordered didn't arrive in time for Daniel to drop off the redtop.

Never ever deal with Road Runner Freight. They not only told me my shipment was going to an Erin in Minnesota? (who the f*ck is Erin?) but had the audacity to pawn off the shipment to a different company after I yelled at them on the phone to give me my **** and was put on hold for 20 minutes (and promptly hung up on). Turns out they even gave the new transport company the wrong phone number too. so after a week and a half, they finally get a hold of me and dropped it off. Thank god, I borrowed that one from my BIL.

and I know that Daniel is half man, half bear but I would've felt bad if he had to drag the redtop out of the back of his 4runner by hand.

Long story short, Road Runner Freight sucks male hooker's buttholes.

I hope so too. but with me helping my wife in her photography, August for some reason is our busiest month. We're booked every weekend that month. I only get a few hours after work each day to work on this. I don't wanna rush it either so we'll see how it goes.

Actual picture of me, but they caught me at a rare time without a cookie in my hand.

Between my 4 cars, I have a plethora of parts laying everywhere. My basement's filling up quick and this pic only shows about a 1/3 of it... it'll be fun putting everything back together.

realized, I never got a shot of the inside of the greytop. It's been a really clean engine so far, I'm happily surprised.

still have to get the flywheel resurfaced.

sprayed hi-temp coating on the header and heat shield.

took everything I could from the redtop. Now I have a VERY heavy paper weight.

the greytop finally got buttoned up and almost ready (aside from the flywheel/trans)
.

lookin' pretty sweet. Can't wait to see it in the engine bay.

Since there isn't much more to do on the greytop. I finally got a few hours in this weekend between birthday parties and shooting a wedding to take out the interior and engine bay.

a shot of me sitting on the floor of the car (uncomfortably), tools everywhere and center console all apart.

that damn horseshoe clip on the auto shifter cable was a bitch to get off. It's about 2 time the size of the manual ones. Had to go at it with a vice grip and my spaghetti arms to get it off.

hood off, getting ready to drain fluids and undo the harness.

auto trans fluid. Yeah, I never really bothered to change it since I was hoping to either blow it up or swap to manual sooner or later.

radiator out and started on the harness

so harness is unplugged, fluids drained, radiator out, header out, alternator out.
all that's left is the ac condensor, check the auto trans for whatever plugs are left, and then have at the mounts and pull the engine.
had to stop last night because it was getting late and I have this thing called work the next morning. Also, we've been getting hit with winds and thunderstorms lately so I went in before it got too bad.

It's been a slow progress but I'm in no hurry, I wanna do it right. Not sure if I can button up everything before the 6gc meet but it's looking more and more unlikely. Besides, I'd want to drive it a week or so to figure out all the kinks first. Don't want to go on long trip with a fresh swap until I'm sure it'll make it.

I've done enough YOLOing back in the days. I'm an old man now. Can't keep up with you youngsters no more.
Although occasionally, sometimes I do something wild like put my drink down on the table without a coaster! *gasp* I know... wink.gif
