More parts ordered, more parts acquired.

Paid Smaay for the mount and ordered my gasket kit. I then went to the junkyard and got the ECU and igniter. All that's left is AFM for electrical parts and I'm good.

Axle is being built as we speak, new motor mounts front and rear are here, and the harness looks to be all set with no repin required.

For those who are following, I am using a 1995 1MZ. Positives include Coil-On-Plug ignition, less O2 sensors, and lower compression. It's also OBD2 as well.

The ECU you will need to run this car with is 89661-06200 should you replicate my swap. This is federal emissions. California emissions would have two extra O2 sensors, precats, and a whole host of other bullhockey to contend with.

What I'm waiting on (and why):

RF axle (shipping)
Smaay mount (shipping)
Misc. Supplies (will buy as needed)
LF axle (need to acquire a new one...is damaged)

The biggest holdup is the gasket kit. I won't see it this weekend, which means I cannot install the engine.

Waiting game status. Really getting anxious and worried it won't get done in time. If it doesn't, I'm stripping the car and doing all the work I want to do to it.

Today is a big day. I have officially sourced and have in my possession 100% of the electrical parts needed to run the 1MZ. Theoretically, if I wanted to, the car would run but not drive. Still need axles.

Picture update tonight, I bought more parts. Lots of OEM goodness, some random other stuffs, and other things.

Got confirmation Smaay shipped the mount out (awesome!), I bought an engine stand (awesome!), sourced the elusive rear exhaust manifold (awesome, thanks amilleri!), and found out I can use a 3S flywheel(double awesome!).

The Celica is patiently waiting...but it's owner cannot!

Pics for clicks:

The 1MZ making its trip home:

Then I ordered tons of parts, some of which I'm still waiting on:

5-speed Solara manifold (thanks to amilleri!):

Gasket Kit for a Solara:

ECU and Igniter:

Other random goodies that one would need:

Kurt95GT's AFM he didn't use:

How the 1MZ sits, just waiting to be revived:

I'm finding that there's some haters out there, so now that they've found the thread and feel like snooping, they can all look at the parts goodness.

thats a different AFM than what i have

also since you are using an AT ECU, you need AF sensors not O2 sensors

Jeff, I'm running a 95 engine with COP, not waste spark. I have one AF sensor, I will get the other next week from the junkyard.

So I got a chance to sit down and do somewhat of a tally thus far:

1995 1MZ motor: $250
2000 Solara rebuild gasket kit: $100 (you can expect to pay more thou, I have a discount at a FLAPS)
1995 1MZ timing kit: $130 (list $200+)
Smaay's 1MZ mount:$200
mrWizard harness service: $200
2000 Solara MT rear exhaust manifold: $145 (list $170)
1995 ES300 ECU/igniter: $50
1993 4runner 3VZ-E flywheel: $65 new
2000 Solara flywheel/clutch bolts: $20 (list $30)
1996 ES300 AFM: $40 (thanks Kurt95GT)
FIPG: $14
Tuneup Parts: $100
3rd Gen GTE clutch cover: $75
Custom clutch disc: $127
S54 refresh: $200 (previously rebuilt, just a new 3rd synchro)
New trans mounts (all 3): $120
Kirkosaurus inserts: $55
New coil boots: $60
New rear A/F sensor: $80
New driver axle: $55
Driveshaftshop pass axle: $150 (eliminates carrier mount)

And I know I'm missing a bunch of stuff.

My impression thus far is that this is a not a swap for the faint of heart, both in skill and in money. I've been a tech for 13 years, and I find myself asking a new question every day. I rate it about a 8 on a scale of 1-10. You're gonna go over budget, you're gonna need to farm things out, and you're gonna hit bumps. DO NOT expect this to be a weekend thing like a BEAMS or a 3rd gen GTE. It won't be, you'll get pissed, and then you'll want to give up. I went in setting a goal of 60 days. It's doable, but will be close. Waiting for the farmed out parts is the hardest thing here, expect a month on the harness and two weeks for Smaay to make the mount. The first thing I did after getting the motor was send out for the harness service and Paypal Smaay for the mount. Custom parts take time, and I didn't want to be waiting for anything once it was go time. I'll have both parts just in time for the car to run.

Get on good terms with your local FLAPS and Toyota dealer. I cannot stress this enough. My parts guy at the dealer is also a member here, and if it weren't for him, I would be waiting a lot longer for parts I couldn't get anywhere else.

That's about it so far.

from my experience the poly inserts will ruin your oem mounts. your better off getting front lower poly bushings and keeping the new oem mounts without installing the kirk inserts.

Zero BEAMS here. Torque given. Poly mounts stay. I've chewed up stock mounts in 6 months with a 5S, I need something a little more robust.

I'm guessing this car doesn't want a 1MZ after all. Issues abound.

More than likely, going to finish the swap to the point where it's a drop-in, and sell it. I over-extended the timeframe, and now the car goes, either in pieces, or complete. I made a promise to people I live with, I broke it, now it's my turn to suffer so to speak. I no longer have possession or access to the Celica, as it was towed this morning to an undisclosed location. Woke up, it was gone. I knew this would happen if the engine and transmission wasn't in the car yesterday. Can't be mad over something you knew would happen if you didn't follow through.

I'm in over my head with this car, with work, with life. Need to step back, simplify, and focus on what's important. Everything is getting sold or parted, and I'm starting 100% new. New clothes, new look, new place to live, new car. ****, I might even go back to daily driving my Jeep again. Actually pretty comfortable to drive.

Keep rockin' guys.
