As some of you know I'm looking into getting drop in camshaft into my 5sfe. I was wandering if anyone can shine a light and lmk what lift was this colt cam in this dyno result? I'm looking for dyno results for what colt calls this grind the "STAGE 1" grind which has a lift of 330. I want it to compare to the webcams grind since their webcam increases the upper end which is what I wanted.

Yea. I messaged presure 2 and 6g96gt already. Just wanted to see if there is anyone else out there with the COLTs in their 5sfe. Also I'm not asking what power it makes. I'm asking what's the lift on the colt cam that was put in to 6g96gt car.

Aight. Called COLT and he claims the second stage grind they have, 345 lift and 262 duration, is a drop in mod along with their shim and bucket. The lift seems a bit too aggressive on stock valve springs? Anyone think they can shine a light on this? Also I would like to see dyno sheets of this if anyone has one.

The stage 1 gives better low end to mid rang power. The stage 2 gives less low end but better high end power. That's what I was told by the COLT man.

That sounds right. The Colt stg 1 is .318" and .311* intake and exhaust IIRC (posted it on your GB thread)

.345" is aggressive on stock springs if you rev it past stock redline. If otherwise, they shouldn't be calling it a bolt-on profile.

I'm assuming the 262 duration is not @.050" lift.

^He also said that 318 lift is for the rev1 cams only. Rev2-3 he only does 330 or the 345. So I'm guessing the one presure2 did is the 330 cam? Still waiting on him or the owner to reply to confirm it. Since I wont be revving pass redline I should be safe with the stock valve springs with the 345 lift?

Ask them what their recommendation is. They will most likely tell you it is recommended you get valve springs. For comparison, web cams known 294 grind is .322"

763 grind is .350" and they require valve springs.

Their bolt-in turbo profile 779 is staggered .318/.337"

It's odd the top end is worse than web cams on the one presure2 worked on if it had even more lift than the webcams 294.

The colt guy told me it's safe to keep the stock valve springs. The only mod is the shims they'll provide. Also he suggested the 345 for the power I'm looking for since I want more top end power.

Stock green tops will suffice until around 140whp IIRC

If you end up getting bigger injectors, get no more than 315cc 7MGTE yellow tops. It's impossible to tune a larger injector properly at idle with a SAFC. Even the 315cc is pushing it for a proper idle AFR

Hmmmm.....my guess would be the 345 lift is safe then. I dont expect more than 140whp with my current setup. Maybe 125-135whp. 140 the most.

Whats the duration of your factory cams and the colt cams @ 1mm / 0.050in. valve lift, as you shouldn't be relying on advertised duration.

Ask whoever you spoke to @Colt for specs @0.050" lift

IIRC stock was something like 7.8mm lift and 198* duration @ 0.050"

I spoke to them but I think rusty is asking for not the advertised duration but to get an actual measurement. I didn't get the .05 lift but he said the duration for stage 1 was 256 and stage 2 was 262.

Yes that's advertised duration, 256 and 262. Webcams 294 are 246* advertised duration, but are 220* @ 0.050 inches of lift, for example.

Yes the actual measurement. Because then it gives you the ability to compare them equally, as advertised duration will vary.

Yea presure2 isn't even replying to my messages and the owner of the 6gc with the colt cams hasn't been active. So no help. Don't know anyone else who has them

they'd need to remove them to get you a measurement, I doubt that'd happen, so manny and the other guy probably arent the best people to talk to.

Id just go with colts advertised numbers
