Doing a FULL LED bulb swap. Only thing im not doing is the clock, climate control, and low beams.
Found 9006 Led bulbs, i want to know if anyone has played with something like that?? friends have them on their VIP cars and i kinda like it. rarely use my highs so this would be nice to have all lights on without blinding people. Bought 16pc LED VIP Puddle lights. Was thinking about custom making clear side mirror lens' with 2 yellow LEDs for turns and 2 white LEDs for when i open my doors and unlock with alarm. Ordered 20pcs or 194 leds. white color 5leds on one bulb. shoots 360` 3 for gauge(current leds dont cut it) 2 or sidemarkers 2 for rears 2 for courtesy lights and the rest for my ideas ordered 2 green and 2 white LED flexible and waterproof strips 90cm in length. will post my idea later anyone know the replacement # for the Map 293 bulb in LED??? also the LED festoon # for the hatch courtesy light?? going to purchase 15 74 size led all white 1 for glove 1 for coin 1 for key ring rest for gauge anyone know if the 1157 Red LED and White and Yellow need that add on resistors??? i kinda like the Hyper-blinking with led turns. what is the 3rd stoplight bulb?? -4 yellow -4 Red (i think, 2 each taillight) -2 White for the backups Confirm thats all i need for the tails and signals??? Wrap up Exterior: 2 9006 white LED highs front 2 yellow 1157 LED signals front 2 194 white corners rear 2 194 tail corners rear 2 yellow 1157 rear 4 red 1157 rear 2 white 1157 2 194 white license plate Interior: 3 194 gauge white 2 194 courtesy white 1 74 glove 1 74 coin 1 74 key ring IIRC 12 74 in gauges Ideas for the LED strips(will post later) Change out CCFL green tubes for white 2 front and 2 rear Still need to #size for: MAP Hatch festoon courtesy light 3rd Brale light Might also try the LED Boards for the tails and Map This post has been edited by 808celica: Aug 16, 2010 - 2:36 PM -------------------- I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island

Moneybags... Lol. Get some pictures up for us when you get this done. I want to do all of that to my car, exact same color scheme too. Not the LED headlights, but everything else.

where did you order the Led for the interior, I'm in the process of changing the interior lighting, including the clock and climate control For the clock, you don't need new lights. You just need some light filters. Want the SMD Chip type LEDs but those are expensive and no one had a 10pc lot on ebay. These will have to do and when night falls they bring a smile to my face
These License plate bulbs are from a different dealer so it isnt HID white, its super white, its the SMD chip LED type. The Flat bank ones so it only shines down This post has been edited by 808celica: Aug 18, 2009 - 4:42 PM -------------------- I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island

nice, are the courtesy lights plug and play?? depends on the person................... I'm looking to make my gauge cluster white like that. I currently have the stock bulbs and taped gel over the plastic to make the needles red and the gauges whatever color the stock bulbs are (a really warm white, nearly orange). How much did those 194 drop-in LED bulbs cost? All automotive LED replacements I've seen are absolutely inane. $8 for 5 SMD LEDs? No, thank you. Did you use the ones that are 5 standard LEDs, 4 in a circular pattern with one facing out? Or did you use the 5-way SMD LED bulbs that are all too common. The 5mm LED style replacement looks real easy to make... just get 5 LEDs, bend the leads around to the right shape and glue them together. Wire them up in series and solder them into the cluster... much cheaper than paying whatever ridiculous amount most places charge for the replacement, seeing as how LEDs are anywhere from $.10-$1.00 a piece. The white looks great on those gauges though. I want mine to look the same, except with red needles (just need white bulbs/LEDs). This bulb is a 5mm led facing straight and 4 3mm leds shooting 360`. these are called refractors?!?!? dunno why. i didnt get the smd leds because of the price. the smd ones are the chip looking leds which have a better glow, but they're like $2.50 more for each compared to these. Im happy with the glow on this set. nice, are the courtesy lights plug and play?? depends on the person................... Do u unplug the other bulb and plug this one in.... wheres the night pictures??? yeah and you will get the polarities wrong and you would have to unplug and switch it. i say depends on the person because sometimes you have trouble doing easy things night pics will come sunday ****replaced my keyring bulb with a 5mm led 74 size. its hella bright!!! also took out the green 74 led i had in the glove and put a white one there too. next will be the coin light. green to white led exchange. I've been thinking about doing a LED corner lens conversion from the new Porsche's. I hope the contour of the bumper is the same in that area, I can plastic weld the rest to make it look sweet. I have to wait for $$ though..

Official!!!! 1156 LED bulbs DO NOT FIT in my reverse tails location. The bulb is slightly bigger and wont fit in i could enlarge the hole a little but i dont know if water will get in. So im leaving that, i might also have to leave teh rest of the tail bulbs alone if this is the case.

plug and play its only the lens.
81231-50010 OEM Toyota LENS,COURTESY Retail Price: $7.21 Is this partnumber of WHITE/CLEAR lens wich could be mounted in our 6GC doors? Are the left and right door lenses the same? Are they plug and play? Thanks in advance! Sept. 28 update** K i got lazy and im saving up for my Vegas trip. LED tail light bulbs I WILL NOT BE GETTING because the diameter of the bulb will not fit through the stock tail socket. it needs to be enlarged a for the bulb to fit, this i dont think i want to do because it might not have a water tight seal anymore. At $25 each bulb 1157 and 1156, i just dont feel like wasting that much $$$$. The LED headlights i will buy eventually My friends shop just got LED boards with a universal pigtail for festoon type and other different types. 16 led board at $25 each unit. I will buy atleast 5 boards and sell them if anyone's interest. This would solve the problem with bulbs not fitting in the housing, and I'd rather post the idea in the thread where a lot of people have subscribed that are obviously interested in LED lighting in their celicas, just to see what everyone thinks of my idea.
Since I know how to plastic weld, I've been thinking about getting a bunch of 12v LED's and using my coupe lights as a test bed for a complete redo of the bulb housing for the lights, putting in rows of bright LED's for everything. Of course the lens would not be touched or melted at all, and since it's a modified stock taillight it would still have the DOT stamp on it. And then possibly selling mine for cash + trade for more coupe lights, and then make another set and keep making them and selling them to forum members. I would have to get a set of hatchback lights too so I could set up those. It's been on my mind for about a year now, maybe sell them for $100 a set with the trade, or maybe $150 w/o trade. I would just need to find a good place to get good LED's from. Ones that can fluctuate between 12.5 - 14.7 volts without burning out and are crazy bright. And if I can get a long enough list of people that are interested then I can buy LED's and other materials in bulk and cut cost a bit. I would of course try it on mine first and research some stable LED's to use in cars. And I would have to figure out if I should try a design or just go with rows. For the coupe I thought about two half circles for the running lights which would get brighter for braking, and the bottom half of the circles would be 1 reverse and one turn signal, but I haven't even drawn it up to see what it would look like, that might be a bad idea all together. Maybe I could do rows, anyone have any LED placement ideas that might look good and could they can photoshop dots on a picture of the taillights of their car and email me? I'll give a discount..lol. Whoo, late reply (:
I'm lovin that. The LED's really look better than the stupid, bulky neon tubes I have. So are those strips from Vled? I want to have door accents like that. I'm also tryin to find some in purple for under the dash and a couple other places, but I'm hesitant to use any website with no reference. And are the holding up ok? Just curious -Neil |

Get whatever spreads the light better. SMD's are better in this case with their 120 angle of view.
You can see hot spots in all colors, but some are more noticeable, so be prepared. -------------------- |

The lens will scatter the light, any viewing angle should work with the oem lens to diffuse it. I would actually suggest something lower like 45 to 90 degree depending on how deeply they sit in the housing and how much they cover the entire lens, a wider angle will waste more light illuminating the black sides of the housing. Ive been using 15 degree LEDs no problem. SMDs are more powerful for their size and consumption, probably because they are cooled better by using the board as a heatsink |

ah now I understand what you guys mean. the 5 SMD LED cover 360 degree and the 5 LED Wide cover 220 degree
im deciding between the 194 LED Bulb - 5 SMD LED Wide Angle Wedge Base and 194 LED Bulb - 5 LED Wide Angle Wedge Base edit: yes box i noticed it. but why creat a new thread when this one already exists. Go with the 220, it will be many times brighter than the 360. Like I said 90% of your output is going to be wasted shining on the black insides of the housing, the lower the viewing angle the better.
