Got the Mishimoto fan shroud the other day, and a pair of RE760’s in 255/35-18.

My automotive genius buddy came over and we installed the crank and knocked the pistons and rods in. All of the clearances were within spec and went together easily. Torqued down the ARP head bolts and just placed the valve cover on for now.

You think they're better than the Dunlop Z2?

RE760’s aren’t even in the same class as the Star Specs.

Are they better than Z2’s in terms of longevity? Of course. Are they as sticky? Not even close. It’s all about what you want out of a tire.

^ yup, for what i'm wanting they're fine. not the best tires you can get but my celi is also not a track car or anything other than an occasional weekend driver.

I must be doing it wrong. Almost 20k miles on my Z2 and only 1/3 worn off. I daily those bitches like 5k a year and took a 1600 mile road trip with them too this summer laugh.gif. I'm addicted to the awesome traction they have, casually rolling up to a 4 way stop at 55mph and just stopping in the last 70feet like its nothing or taking turns at 30mph that should be 15mph turns like a sharp right hander from a main to side road.

I think everyone needs to try some redic sticky tires on their car at least once in their life. It's a blast even on a car as slow as mine is.

I had Hankook RS2's on the FR-S for about 10K miles... until they were bald. Super sticky, and very sketchy in the rain.

Corners were a blast, but I don't go balls to the wall in turns in the MR2. Something something snap oversteer. I make sure I enter the corner slower than I'd like, and then just accelerate through the apex. The redesigned rear suspension will help, and getting rid of the crap coilovers in favor of the KWs has already helped a great deal, but I still need to put a set of RCAs on.

I wasn’t feeling super motivated today, so I only did a little bit on the engine.

Installed the fuel injectors after replacing all of their o-rings and lubing them up. Replaced all of the hardware with stainless bolts.

I chased the threads for the manifold studs and installed new studs and nuts. I then cleaned up and painted the coolant lines. Couldn’t find the hardware, so I used more stainless bolts that were meant for the stock intercooler piping.

Got the oil pump and water pumps mounted today, along with the baffle and pickup, fresh out of the parts washer.

We also noticed a small dent in the bottom of the oil pan, so it got pounded out and received a new coat of paint.

The gasket kit I received was for a 2nd gen 3SGTE, and is missing the o-rings for the oil pump to the oil pan, so I got an order in at the dealer for those, plus a new crank bolt, because the machine shop misplaced it.

Seats showed up, but they’re stuffed away in my office at the moment. Still waiting on my set of Bride Type RO’s to install them.

I did decide that the 10 pound boat anchor known as the alternator bracket needed to go, so I ordered a lightweight bracket from Racer X, and that got here today.

Cool thing on the bracket. I got an aluminum bracket off the beams redtop celica for my friends 3rd gen 3SGE motor. The original 3sge 3rd gen is metal

I wonder if the mr2 beams is aluminum as well...

Finished blasting the upper oil pan. Painted and installed.

Will probably slap the timing belt on this weekend. Still need to port match the intake mani and turbo mani, so we’re not quite there yet.

Seat brackets finally showed up. I threw the seats in on Monday after work. I didn’t take any photos of the process, but I quickly grabbed a shot on my way out the door this morning.

Over the weekend I ordered a TCS X brace as well as some future-planning purchases from RacerX in the form of a 1ZZ coil on plug kit, and a top feed fuel rail. After the new year I’ll be purchasing a MR2Link for a standalone EMS, and will source a set of ID1050X injectors for the new rail, but probably won’t install them quite yet. I’ll throw those on when I upgrade the turbo.

I went to Italy for December, and since the new year I have been super swamped with work, which is good and bad. Bad because I hardly have time to work on this project, and good because I get more money for this project.

Alright, where did we leave off?

Well, timing is done. Hung the turbo manifold and the turbo, but that will have to come back off in a few weeks, as I have purchased an ATS CT21 Blackjack turbo. I should have my PnP MR2Link ECU in a couple weeks as well. That will get a quick base tune installed, with alterations for a set of ID1050x injectors.

At this point I’m basically an intake manifold away from owning everything that RacerX Fabrication makes. I wonder if they’ll hook me up on that.

New RacerX fuel hanger kit with -6 lines will be here at the end of the week. Then we can drop the tank and swap the pumps and run the new fuel lines.

Just a couple photos of the current state. The valve cover is back off, because I’m pressing a -10 fitting into the crankcase outlet that originally ran to the stock catch can to make it easier to fit the RacerX unit. That press-in fitting should be here on Friday.

Interested to see what the ct21 looks like. My FTWct20b will be here tomorrow from turbobay performance.

Visually it is the same. It is just an internal upgrade, plus an upgraded wastegate actuator.
