There really aren't that many mods for the 7A-FE, but some basic stuff is a header(You have to get one made for a Corolla and modify it to fit the Celica. Sad, isn't it.
You can also buy a turbo kit for the 7A-FE, or you can make your own like OOBE or iburnslabs. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

unorthodox also makes UD pulleys. TRD and TWM shortshifters work on the ST version... doesnt increase HP or anything but they do improve performance... just check out 6gcs parts database coomer (with the help of everyone else) has probably compiled the largest 6th gen parts data base rivaled only by henryvos site.

Tru its a lot of money, harache and lots other stuff but, in the end it really worth it. YOu prob would have to get the 2nd gen 3sgte casue the thrid would be harder to find and lots more epensive. Not sure if you could do a custom turbo in the 7afe, IM sure someone has but it prob wouldnt be worth it unless you changed internals and all. If you dont care about your engien jsut throw a 50 -75 shot on it and youll RUN but, prob nto for lond LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

QUOTE (macavely @ Nov 14 2002, 06:28 PM) This goes out to anyone that know what mods can be done to an 7afe engine? and how would they help? There are a number of things you can do if your plans is not immediate for the 3sgte. You will be surprise how this slow lazy engine performs after a few upgrades. Really Please follow: 1) Properly tune car. Spark plugs, fuel mixture, timing advance 2-8 degrees 2) Exhaust, HKS, MagnaFlow, Apex N1 and so on. 3) Cold Air Intake 4) Nology HotWires 5) Crane Cams HI6TRC w/ Nology Coil M80 6) Tune car again especially, set timing to 0 degrees and us the Crane Cams HI6TRC module to control timing. 7) Apex SAFC 8) Header. Check out if HP Racing has one and others. 9) maybe have come first. Bridgestone Potenza S03. Please do not for get a good suspension. hcek out JIC, GroundControl or Eibach+Koni/KYB This is a little bit. I am press for time now. I have to get ready for work. -------------------- West_Minist

mmmm
and what would this cost??? i have a 6th gen froM 96 i live in belgium so i suppose it's a european version and.... its a st what will it cost me to make it "fast" i believe now i have about 106horsepower what will it take & cost to make it something like 200-250? i think such an improvement will require an engine swap and if you know it pzl state prices it will cost over here in belgium... |

I have not done a price research for long now. Maybe just over $1k us for everything. Les say $1800 to be safe. Some stuff are pretty standard. If fact, he needs all of these even after the swap. The only difference is: 3) Cold Air Intake 8) Header. Check out if HP Racing has one and others. since these here will change w/ the tubo setup Well everyhting takes money. But waiting and buying the right parts take time. Do not rush it since eventually, you will need it unless just a swap suits you since I doubt it. You can use the same 7AFE to get to 250 with some serious mods. A swap would be better. a nice 2gen 3SGTE from where you are or from toysport, www.fensport.com in England can do it for you. But remember, a swap is not easy if you will be doing it yourself especillay if you are not a mechanics or what ever you call them. You will suspension problem, structure integrity and driving experience. But once done, you will be successful. -------------------- West_Minist

A 3S-GE is a goot engine to modify to get to GTE. Please call or visit www.toysport.com for details. All turbo model of toyota have a T in the series. GE is the n/a while the GTE is the Turbo model. The G is the performance head. The F is 3S-FE or 5S-FE is the economy head. not really for performance. The F have low end torque or more torque that the S series. The 2nd gen 3S which you will get (since the 3rd is fairly hard to get). You can drop a 3SGE in the car which will give you 180HP. The 3rd gen will give you 210HP. If you want a n/a for insurance, you can install a turbo ready engine, prepare from toysport with High compression pistons, 11.1 or so. Even higher if you want, which will do more that 210 since you will have a mod engine to do that. Later on, you can sell the piston and through in some 8.5 pis, and tehn turbo charge the car. You will need a computer to do fuel requirements like the autronic.com or motec or AEM (if you can get them to program one for you.) An engine can start from (3SGTE) $1500US,3 SGE is less. Prepare models ran from $2000+ -------------------- West_Minist

The 3S-GE that is in the sixth gens has a compression ratio of 10.3:1 without VVT-i, and 11.0:1 with VVT-i. The 3S-GTE(Third generation anyways, not sure about first gen -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Well, have the options now.
As you said chris, it woul be cheaper to drop the 3sgte in with full harness and so on. That engine will be good for and up to 350+hp as reprted by 3sgte people like celica and mr2's. But, depending on where he is going, that is how you normally do, because after all, the 3sg is the part of both worlds. But as always, you can strengthened a gte. Easy solution: swap for 3sgte -------------------- West_Minist

I have a 97 ST and am looking into mods.
Cold or Ram Air Intake, Plugs, Leads, Coil, Crane Ign. Module, Fuel Pressure Regulator, ASP Crank Pulley, Greddy SP Cat-Back system...I honestly do not think it is worth going any further. WHY? Ever thought about a 5S-FE swap....this should just slot in easy enough. This is the 2.2L engine used in the European 94-99 GT. It's 150/180 bhp as standard. Then to make it even faster, you'll still need to do the above. |

Well thanks for the info I'm still not sure on what to do. I'm going to have to talk it over with my dad, he was talking about droping a Ford V6 in there or just building an engine from scratch. I'll let ya'll know what i'm going to do.
