I noticed today when i was looking up some parts that there must be some kind of defference between the 3sgte's?
there are different part numbers for:
88-89 ..... 90-91 .... and 92-93 celica engines
i wanted to get some good spark plug wires since the original ones on the engine looked to be in need of a replacement.
the clip i bought has no vin numbers to be found and i cant figure out how i can tell what year my engine would be?
does anyone know what the differences would be ?
i always thought the 3sgte's were all the same from 89-93??????????
anyone know?
thanks,
dg

Odd... Nology sells 3sgte plugs for 91 to 94 3sgte celica's...

http://store.racinglab.com/to91ce3l4noh.html

Than there is Magnecor which has;

92-93 Celica Turbo All Trac 3SGTE MAG-45253-tur $170.00

88-89 Celica Turbo All-Trac 2.0 3SGTE MAG-45173 $100.00

90-91 Celica Turbo All-Trac 2.0 3SGTE MAG-45198 $114.00

Than TRD has;

00642-90919-001 3SGTE / MR2 1/90-1/92 $120.53 $102.45

00642-90919-002 3SGTE / MR2 1/92-11/93 $120.53 $102.45
(for mr2)

Your guess is as good as mine...

You have a 2nd gen 3sgte... In US, 90-93. As far as the wires go, I know that the 2nd gen and 3rd gen 3sgte's are interchangeable. The only difference b/w them was that the 3rd gen uses a wire loom. I don't know for sure is the 1st gen 3sgte and 2nd gen are interchangeable, but I wouldn't see why not.

Are you talking about the wiring harness?

There are 2 different 2nd Gens, with small differences mainly in the ecu.

Right! I am wondering what the spark plug wire difference is? and i would like to know what year my engine (just so i know) when i am looking up some other parts that have crazy year references so i know what to get......
i dont know why they would make diff parts and and have different part numbers for plug wires if they were actually the same?
especially when there is a big price difference between similar parts

I answered your question about the years... scroll up homie... wink.gif

Changes are made b/w each generation. The part numbers are different likely due to subtle changes. For example, in my post above, I stated that a difference b/w the 2nd gen and 3rd gen wire plugs is that the 3rd gen uses a wiring loom. However, the 2nd gen wire plugs can be used with a 3rd gen motor.

Thats it? ? ? ? The 90-91 & 92-93 mag wires have like a 60 dollar price difference. I just cant beleave that loom makes the price go up!!
That is crazy............
I guess I will just get the cheaper wires if there is really no difference?
Thanks,
DG

The third gen 3sgte was never released to the US. The 2nd gen is 90 to 93, so I don't see why there would be a difference b/w 90-91 and 92-93. The 3rd gen (with the wire loom) was available only from 94-98 in Japan and Europe.
