Well I did a forum search for speakers and surprisingly most of the posts are "I got my speakers today!!!!!!!!!!" and "do speakers need electricity?"

Anyway, my head unit is on the way (Alpine 9833) and I think it might be a bit too much for the stock speakers. So I'm looking into some good 3-way or 4-way front and rears (looked at the Eclipses and rf's so far).

Any recommendations in the way of $100-300 pairs (please don't use the word "Xplode" hereafter)? And more importantly, any good consumer review sites?

you answered your own question. All of those: I got my speakers today!

what'd they buy? did they like it?

read all fo those posts.

I'd recommend Alpines, MB quarts, Focals (but the last two are kinda expensive), the new RF speakers aren't half bad... Sony sucks

Thanks for the journal praise. I finally updated it a little bit, but come summer when I have time and a lot more money there'll be a lot more interesting reads.

As for speaker reviews, I was hoping for a comparison, rather than the simple "I like them" or "I don't like them" that the aforementioned posts provide.

Stay away form MB quart Coaxials......fukin too BRIGHT. Damn tweeter.....

Forget the 3-4 ways, not needed. You need a solid 2-way coaxial.

for the cheap route, Infinity Reference, NOT kappas.....kappas have that damn metal tweeter, too bright, like the MB quarts. The references has the silk tweeter which is much better IMO.

I'd get some CDT's if it were me......cheap and NICE coaxials.....one of the best i've heard.

for 100-300$ i'd get some componets if it were me........

If you want number comparisons, do crutchfield.com

but in a lot of the "I got this today!' posts, they DO compar them to other brands.

i would get components. in that price range i would look at CDTs. if you look you might find CDT HD comps for around 300 and they would sound amazing. they are very detailed without being in your face, but if you are only going to run them off your HU power then i wouldnt get components. if you run off your HU power then you wont notice much difference between speakers so i would just get some cheap infinity refrences.

I have that HU and it is sweet it is new this year.

Crystal mobile sound are some of the best. I have a crystal component system and a set of crystal coaxials. The coaxials are awsome the SQ is up there with CDT but without the price tag. wink.gif

I just put a set of MB Quarts up front, and they sound absolutly amazing, and are very clear. They werent really that expensive either, and fall easily in your price range depending on which ones you get.

I suggest going to local speaker shops and listening as many as you can. Take some music that you a familiar with. Narrow it down to a few that you can research in more depth.

What size speakers are looking to purchase? How many and what size speakers do you have already?
