I was looking at my tail lights and the tail lights from Phat_99CeliGT in his how-to and I think they're different. If people can post pics of stock hatch tail light that would be great

Phat painted his tail lights red. You can do it your self. And there are also two other different japanese tail lights for hatchbacks.

the USDM lights are all the same for all. the only difference is between the lights is coupe/hatch... those clear lights are custom made, thats why the lens is all one piece....

those single piece ones are for the coupe. and even thats not a sinle piece, those were just painted to look that way....

people are seeming to get confused so im going to try to lay this down as simple as possible.

coupes/convertibles have one kind of taillight. if you paint them, they look like the ones mousetrash put up.

hatchbacks have a different style. these are the ones wiht the three pieces. the clear ones on phatceli's car are custom made. he made them and decided to put one piece... im going to try and find some pics for you guys....

ok, back with pics, becuase this thread is annoying me...

(thank you random people for donating pics of your cars biggrin.gif)

COUPE/CONVERTIBLE: like i said, one kind of tail light. lloks like this
http://www.6gc.net/photo.php?file=/images/...otos/1855_5.jpg
http://www.6gc.net/photo.php?file=/images/...otos/1521_4.jpg

HATCHS: they have a different kind of tail light. it looks like this:
http://www.6gc.net/photo.php?file=/images/...otos/2433_2.jpg
http://www.6gc.net/photo.php?file=/images/...otos/2419_5.jpg

now thats the basics.... you can spice up your tails by painting them, etc...
a painted COUPE\VERT tail might look like this:
http://www.6gc.net/photo.php?file=/images/...photos/17_2.jpg
all they did was paint a dark color over the amber/red part of the stock coupe tail. another popular choice is instead of "smoking" them, is painting them red, so your whole tail light is red.

now the HATCH tails, spice things up alot. you can get the JDM tails, which look exactly the same, but that amber piece is on the corner is clear, instead of amber. a pretty pointless mod for around $250 if you ask me. now if your talented, you can take the base, and make your own custom lights, like phat_celi did... his looked like this:
http://www.6gc.net/photo.php?file=/images/..._photos/2_1.jpg
notice the structure is the same, he just made a custom lense for it.

this should clear up any confusion people have....

Thanx celicarocker. I was confused because I thought he was just breaking up the red and yellow from the inside and leaving the lens. I've heard this is a way some tail light can be done. It all makes sense....

i disagree- my bud bought jdm's for his car, and since its silver, i think it has added a lot a class to his car... yes it is expensive at 260 for what he paid, but its well worth it imo...

alot of people do like it. which is cool, its their money, they can spend it how they want. yeah, i think they do look better, and add class, but to me, its not $260 worth of it, thats all...
