it won't physically fit in the engine bay. i'm assuming you are talkiing about the twin turbo engine. not a chance, you are going to just have to throw money at it like there is no tomorrow, and even then, i'd say it wouldn't work. also, the supra engine isn't mounted transversely like the celica's engine. that's another problem.

what transmission are you going to use? you can't use the supra one, it's RWD.

also, not to sound like a complete ass, but the 2jz is like 10 grand! that's more than most people bought their celicas for. and add at LEAST another 10 grand for all the ridiculous custom stuff. hell you can buy a supra for that. it's not like when a twin turbo supra dies, they just drop it off at the local yard, and let some kid come around and pick up the engine for 500 bucks.

man i'm sick of this question.

Well, look at it this way.

If you have the money and really want a customise car for braggs and for show, go for it.

You have your reasons.

But as charlie said or implies, if I were you, I wuld buy a celica.

To me, the celi is the little sister to the Supra. Almost the same shape and handling.

For some the supra is to expensive. If you can get one, get it.

the motor fits.... you have to move everything else..
ie... battery, radiator,ac, etc..
and you have to cut into the firewall.
then a custom droveshaft with supra rear axels...etc..
it will not work without major cnc-ing on awd tranny.
cost too much.

ok, by not fitting, i mean you have to cut into the firewall to get it to fit, and i consider that to be a "not fit" situation. once you have done that, the car is no longer legal to be on the street. period. cutting up the firewall essentially destroys the car, and besides the illegality, it's not safe at ALL... the firewall is there for a reason. and this isn't like, give you a ticket illegal, this is like, take away the car and never let you have it back illegal.

buy a supra if you want the engine that bad. but you can get more power and potential from a 3sgte, which is in the non-US celicas, 4th, 5th and 6th gens. the 3sgte actually has more power potential than the 2jz-gte.

LOL biggrin.gif

Looking at charlie reply, buy a supra and done.

If not, turbocharged the life out of the 3SGTE and beat the same supras you love.

Check out this link http://www.jgtc.net/index_en.htm and do some reading there on the engine that you forgot to look at. check out all supras on that site.

Just a thought confused.gif

You do not have to cut into the FW. You can extend the front of the car. you can go tubulars to achieve that. Build a tubular frame for the front >> increasing the engine bay.

But then you have a problem. The car will be front heavy unless you put some lead in the rear to distribute the weight.

Why go through all of this when you can buy a Supra. BUY IT and spend wisely

I am finished with this post.

Good luck everyone on this.

yes, that is true, but the older celicas had much bigger engine bays... remember the "celica supra" ... they used to be the same car smile.gif that oldie had several inline 6s in it, the 4M-E, 5M-E, and 5M-GE, and it was RWD... so it could definitely fit in one of those.

now THAT would be a project. get an 79-81 celica, and drop a 2JZ in there! wow, hi i'm a sleeper! that would be amazing.

I love a good sleeper. One time I saw a beat up Datsun 280 with a TPI Corvette V-8! Talk about evil power...
