First, make sure you can loosen the top drain bolt(You don't wanna drain the fluid only to find that you can't put new stuff in. wink.gif). It's a silver bolt that's 19mm or 22mm I believe...I can't remember, but it's a large diameter bolt with a fairly short head that doesn't stick out too far...I'm almost positive it's the biggest bolt on the side of the tranny that's closest to the front of the car. You then need to remove the drain bolt, which is on the bottom of the tranny, and is the exact same kind of bolt as the filler hole bolt.

Once the oil is drained, put the bottom bolt back in and get it tight, and then fill the tranny with 2.7 quarts of 75w-90 tranny fluid(If you have a ST...not sure on the capacity of the other trannies.) I used BG Synchro Shift III 75w-90 oil in mine, and it didn't do a thing, as far as helping my problems. frown.gif

That's the same location as the one on the Geo Prizm's tranny with the 4A-GE. Coomer - This came up last night with the Geo and I need a fill plug - the one on the front you were talking about. What do I call it and where can I get one - Auto parts store or dealership only?
Celica Boston - It's a 22mm BTW. I can find out about the GT in about 5 mins. if you need me to.

Man, that sucks. Sorry bro. And for those of you who asked earlier, clutch doctors are mechanics who specialize in clutches and brakes. They have the lowest prices and are the most honest of any of the mechanics I've seen. That's just why I said go there, but I didn't realize they arent in a lot of states. Thought they were more popular than that.

Did it not have the fill bolt in there already? You can probably just go to Toyota and ask them how much it'd be for the tranny oil fill bolt/plug for a C-52 tranny...I bet it's not more than a couple bucks. smile.gif

No it was stripped and the differential leaks around the axels so we have to keep filling it from there. Thanks for the info.
