I am starting the process of a 3sgte swap, I just wanted to know if it matters that the engine is for AWD. Do I have to convert my Celica to AWD to drop an AWD 3sgte engine in? Or is it okay just to direct all that power to the front wheels? If I do have to convert to AWD has anyone ever done it?? confused.gif Thanks for any replys!!! wink.gif

Yes. Plus, I don't think anyone has been successful in doing the AWD conversion?

Yes you can still put that engine in your car. You just have to have a different tranny. The GT tranny bolts right up to the 3sgte.

True Canyonking, but don't you think it would be a good idea to tell him that nearly everyone that has tried to use the GT tranny has had problems? I suggest a search on the term "E-153" - you will learn everything you need to know about the tranny for the swap.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

If you use the GT tranny you need to be careful. I am currently using the E-153 tranny, however I dont do hard launches or anything real abrasive to the tranny. I do get on the car most all the time, its a performance engine, its made to perform, the tranny is not. I've been using it almost a year now without having gearing problems. However, im constantly thinking about it, and im convinced theres more power than what im actually feeling, so i'm getting an MR2 tranny, its just safer.

Erik: I think you mean you are using the S-54 (GT tranny).
