I am going to produce a limited edition fiberglass side skirt for the 6th gen Celica.
It will be based off of the veilside/vis invader side skirt, but will have a air intake molded into the rear of it that will have the option of forcing air into the rear wheel well, thus cooling the rear brakes by cirrculating more air in the wheel well. The side skirts will come a with mesh grill insert that can be changed to match any other grills you may have. There will be a few other minor changes added.
These side skirts will be molded for a perfect fit... unlike the vis side skirt that need alot of modifications to fit correctly

Info:

Estimated cost: $350-400 for the set.
5 layer molded fiberglass.
Preped and primered.
Molded mounting brakets for mesh grill.
Mesh grill is included.
Tubing for funcional side skirts only.
Diagrams for cutting to fit tubing.
Hardware for mounting.
Approx weight: 5lbs each

Prototype designs will be availble soon.

These side skirts will be a limited edition only, I am planning on making ten sets and possibly more depending on demand.

I will NOT ship two sets within 300 mile of each other... That way they will be as close to one of a kind as possible. This way you won't drive down the street and see another Celica with these sideskirts.

I am also planning on developing a front and rear air dam for the 6th gen. I want to see how well the side skirts go over before I produce the front and rear.

I would like to have at least 10 sets preordered before I start to produce them. I do not need the cash up front. Money will be collected prior to shipping.

If you have questions or comments regarding this you can contact me via email.

Thanks

I am waiting for 10 or more people to commit to ordering them.... I'm not asking for cash yet, just that you are interested in buying them... I wont sell any of them until I have a photo of them.

Will post a concept design as soon as I can though.

10 people is going to be tough due to the fact that you have no pics and want 400 for a set. frown.gif Good luck tho.

Not to mention the fact that we can order an entire Erebuni kit for like $750 shipped. Maybe if the design is outta this world, and the cost is like 250, then more may consider it. I would buy them if they were cheaper, but $400 for just side skirts is a little high.

The $350-400 is just an estimated cost and it is high just so that I don't end up charging people more than I originally told them it would be. The actual cost of these will be cheaper.

As for the Erebuni kit.... If you know anyone who has this they will tell you that it fits like ****!

These side skirts will be molded directly from a celica's rocker panel... so that they will not need to be modified at all.... which will keep shop cost down. They will only need to be sprayed and cleared.

Also when you think about it $400 at most is not that much for a set of sideskirts that not only look really nice but are also a performance mod. Expecially since it will cost you $400 to buy just the side skirts from Erebuni or Vis racing and a hell of alot more from veilside.

Also I will not ship these within 300 miles of anyone else who has them, so a little extra to have something that you will not see on another Celica around you is worth it.

I will post a concept drawing later tonight for you guys to look at.

Here is a ruff concept design of the sideskirts... These don't show how they would look exactly... just the basic design.

Once I have the 1st set made I will post pics of them and then I will take orders for them.

This concept doesn't show the mesh grill so use your imagination.

Photo

Also what would you think would be a fair price?

that looks really good, maybe if u can raise the back part to look like the supra side scoop. i'd pay $250 at the most. are u sure ur not gonna sell it to people close by? i don't think any of us will mind. 10-15 sideskirts out of the thousands of 6th gen owners. ask any of us, i'm pretty sure none of us have a problem with that. biggrin.gif but yea, definitely keep me posted. i need to get sideskirts and i want yours!

That looks great. 250-300 would be a good price anything more would be overkill.

These look exactly like the sideskirts that Qatar has for $220. What is the difference?

the back is raised slightly compared to the SSV lotus skirts and it has a little more agressive look to it, the difference is they wouldnt look right with anything but the invader front...

I thought about doing this... The only prob with it would be that to make the scoop functional You would have to cut into the rear clip of the car... not everyone is willing to do this.

I will probably make quite a few changes to the design before I make the final product... that's is why I'm trying to get ideas now so any suggestions will be appreciated!

This isn't exactly true... they would look good with certain other kits, but they are being designed to work with the Invader front end.

For me to do that the cost would go way up.

I would have to buy the kit, then mold it to make a exact replica, then I would have to make my changes to the kit, remold it and then produce the actual piece.

I already have the Invader kit so for me I would be more cost effective to do the ones I am talking about for now and later work on other projects.

Thanks

i don't know. for just the little "scoop" in there, $250 doesn't seem worth it. when you said scoop, i pictured like a big 4-5 inch hole. i'm not dissing it, but it doesn't seem agressive enough. i mean i know the erebuni and VIS kits fit like crap, but if you have a buddy at a shop(which i do) it's a lot easier to get it fixed. and again, if one were to buy the side skirts from you, and then buy the front and rear bumpers from either of the companies, the price would go upwards of 1,000 dollars. i'm not so sure that it'd be worth it. again i'm not dogging it for anyone else, just stating my opinion. if the design was a little more aggressive i'd be down for it. the design does look good though, hope it all works out. have you thought about maybe customizing the rear bumper of the invader kit? biggrin.gif
