If youve followed my post then you well know that i shall be putting 8" subs in my door.
Other then sealing the door well with silicone would using that cotton stuff, sometimes put in sub boxes, be a bad idea? I would only use around the sub and areas of the door where the window and window mech would not stand a chance of getting tangled up with it. Is there n e thign else that i could do to make the subs in the door sound better. Notes: Planing on running two kicker comp 8"s with 80-100w each using a 2 channel amp and 8 gauge wire. |

noooooooooooo, don't put fiberfill in your doors, get some sort of sound deadner peal & seal , Dynamatt, Brown Bread ect...
then get your self a can of sound deadning rubberized spray and have fun just make sure not to over due it so u can't role down your windows or lock your doors. -------------------- ![]() All I have in this world is my Balls and my Word and I'm not breaking em for no one,- Tony Montana Team 6gc 2005 |

I also am planning doing this install if were you I would worry about putting polyfill or anything like it in your doors. I think I am going to dynamat my doors.
Why do want to use polyfill with a free aair set-up??? Are trying to keep the rattling down??? If that is the case some sort of foam I think will work. It would need to solid so it would not mess the doors internals. I maybe wrong but this what I am going to do. William ![]() |

I too am going to be using silicone to seal up my door and its air gaps. Im also going to be using dynamat foam or somethign beter then it from a company called QuietSolutions.
I really dont know what that "fiber filler" does or is used for so i figured that it might help out with the way the bass sounds if i put it in the door lol. but i guess not weee now i dont have to buy it. Thanks a bunch you guys |

iv heard that the fill can make it louder becuase it makes it sound like the box has a larger volume. if the door was sealed up id say yes, it would work not 100% sure tho

well u still wouldn't want to put the fiber fill in or seal it your subs when put in the doors will be free air the only time u seal it is when u have a sealed box and thats not wut u have. All u want to do is sound deaden as much as u can and make sure everything is rienforced so it doesnt rattle.

Why O Why do you wanna put 8" subs in your front doors...?????
What you realy need to do is have a good front stage... something with plenty of power. I have Focal Utopia 6" spilts in my front doors. About three weeks ago i used dynamat inside the door skin and on the door behind the trim. The sound i got from adding dynamat was just unreal. Cleaner sharper sound. The mid bass is so clean now i realy cant see why anyone would want to put a 8" sub there......i would hope there would be a few tweeters in there somewhere also. I have the same speakers for my rear stage and have done the same with the dynamat on the inner body of the car..... All i can say is choose your speakers right the first time......if you have to save the extra $$$ do so....coz you realy get what you pay for i think......... -------------------- ![]() 312whp with more to come.... |

Oooooops i forgot......
The white fiber is called "DACRON" and all that if for is to stop the displacment of the sound inside your sub box. I know people who stuff that sh#t into there boxes. WRONG.........If you are going to use it and i recommend you do, just place a layer on the pannel opposite the woofers pannel. -------------------- ![]() 312whp with more to come.... |

i decided on the subs because i wanted the airmovent of the subs as well as the bass effect. I was going to put some mid bass speakers (kicker rmb8) in but felt that the air displacement of the subs would be better suited.
On top of that i already have tweeters that came with the car and in what was called the "premium 8 speaker package" which also includeds a 4 inch speaker between the 8 inch and the tweeter on the door pannel. How much air movement/effect from a sub would i get out of a mid bass speaker. I figure im getting the sub for 45 bucks each (btw its a kicker c8) |

since we r on the topic of it...
... would mid bass speakers move a nice amount of air. Granted i know its not guna kick as much as a sub but how satisfying is are the mid bass speakers when it comes to bumpin it? |

you need free-air subs if your going to put them in the doors. Your mid-bass speakers are better 'cause they suite the door better. Subs need a box and i dont think you'll get the same effect in your doors unless you get free-air subs.

yes i am aware of that. Im being a nu b when it comes to speakers and subs, i figured that i could use them in a free air application even tho its recommened for a sealed area.
This would obviously mean that i should go with the free air mid bass speakers (rmb8's) right???? This post has been edited by urbandork: Jul 29, 2004 - 11:23 AM |
