I'm almost positive that this won't happen, but the thought of selling my car and buying a five-speed silver on black '99 Infiniti G20 has crossed my mind lately. I'm sick of being harassed by the cops in my loud yellow coupe, and a quiet silver sedan won't attract near as much attention. Plus the G20 is a really sexy car in my opinion...they look good, handle well, are SR20-powered, and weigh less than 3,000 lbs. I posted a couple pics of a nice one below. That said, I don't think I could ever get rid of my Celica. biggrin.gif

Now if I were to sell my car, I'd first put in my OEM flywheel and a new clutch to solve my tranny problems. I'd also fix my hydraulic system. I'd repaint the front end of the car as well, with my current modifications completed. I'd sell the car with either the 18" wheels or the 17" wheels on it. The car has 117,000 miles on the chassis, with far less than that on the motor and tranny, which both function perfectly.

So what do you guys think it's worth? I'm just kind of curious.

Wow.. Dont sell your celica Commer, you have been an inspiration to many of us here on this site, I for one included. Think of all the heart you have poured into your pride and joy before anything. I never would have gotten as interested in my car if it wasnt for this website smile.gif That said, value wise, a tuned car has it's ups and downs in the used car market. Properly done they can return big on investment, but in the case of your celica, most people dont know the desirablity factor of the 4A-GE, and 6th gens arent high on wish lists either... Someone who would be willing to pay the TRUE value of the car would be few and far between, in my opinion... I dont rememebr if you said you got your A/C to work after the engine swap, but i think if you dont have A/C it would be next to impossible to get a reasonable price for you to break even after its all said and done...

Oh, I would never expect to break even on my car...I've put over $15,000 into this car, including the $7,800 initial cost of the car, and I'd never expect to get near that much...I'm just kind of curious. wink.gif

Coomer i think your Celi just need a new "IMAGE" cuz there is a time for all of us that we dont like or we dont respect what we have:)....So.....Ehmmm...try to finish your Celi and put the selling thoughts in the background:)
For me that silver car its just another saloon, its not a Celica:).

But if you really want to get rid of the Celi go for the Altezza:)

If the thought of selling the celica has crossed your mind then chances are it might happen if you get the chance to get a G20 for a good price. And if that happends best of luck for you. and yes you will get less peroblems from the cops with a car that blends in more with the other cars on the road.

yes you have put a lot into your celica but is it worth all the trouble of having cops stop you for not reason other then you have a car that sticks out.?

you can also just paint you celi black or sliver with would make it blend in more on the road. if you are willing to put more money into the car then go for it.

firstly, that infinity car is gayish. I agree with mike (magic) that the only car that may replace the Celi is the Altezza (IS200) but only the 4cyl model with VVTL-i and 210 bhp but i think its only JDM and not available in the U.S.

Personally though i believe you should keep it and if you have so much trouble you should just get a new paint. nice colors such as yamaha blue, metallic brown, silver, black, pearl black etc are nice colors but dont usually attact that much attention.

Perhaps a color change would be more in order.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

and celi's w/o 6gc frown.gif

seriously though...screw the police...
as long as you drive wise during the day you SHOULD be fine...
if your area is swarming with cops lately...might be due to them having something due(a certain amount of tickets or w/e)

just stake it out if that is it...but keep the celi..
if anything ADD to the garage smile.gif

Yeah, you guys are right...I've been hoping for a while now to paint it gunmetal and it would probably be in the shop right now for that, but unfortunately my garage got broken into and pushed those plans back a bit...hopefully by the end of summer it'll go into the body shop though. smile.gif

turbo silvertop? probably a bad idea hehe

I've seen fairly stock silvertops running 5 PSI and reliably putting down 205-215 horsepower at the wheels with nothing done to the engine internally. smile.gif

These motors are really built pretty strong and with the already high 11:1 compression, it doesn't take a whole lot of boost to get lots of power out of the engine. That said, most of the time a conversion to standalone engine management is a requirement when going with a turbo setup on a AE101 4A-GE.

And I could never afford that right now...I'll probably end up painting my car gunmetal and going with some sort of a 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust system with a couple resonators and a Magnaflow muffler so that it's really quiet.

Well, to be on the other side.. That car is hot.. I personally want to get a nicer sporter lux sedan.. I think that would be awsome.. but i also dont know the specs on it.. I would almost say just stop modding the celi and start saving for an Is300 That seems to be a great car no matter what.. I think every day about selling my celi and getting an older Bimmer or somthing like that .. but my car isnt worth too much.. Good luck

Yeah, I'll talk to you more about it...I want my exhaust to sound like stock(or quieter.) I was driving Amy's Celica GT this weekend and I'm hooked on the sound of just the intake screaming on a 5S-FE...I bet the four throttles of my 4A-GE sound pretty sweet too...it's just that all I can hear is exhaust. wink.gif
