Think this is a more cost effective way other than buying a $500-600 new hood?

Yeah, I'd think so. Figure $100-200 for a hood scoop, and then you could do the work yourself and have it painted for probably pretty cheap. But if you had someone else do the work, it might cost quite a bit...fiberglass is a lot of work. wink.gif Then again, even if it does cost a lot, something completely custom would be sweet because no-one else would have it.

I'd find the scoop you like, take some pictures and your car to some body shops, and ask them how much they'd charge you.

if your going to be doing the work yourself, then yes it is... but if your going to pay to get it done, it'll prolly cost the same, if not more... shops love raping you for custom work...

Yeah, ill prolly do that, all the scoops that look remotely good on Erebuni are similar to what everyone else has on the site though! nothing really custom diff!

You can always make one like I did. This is a very early and rough pic. I'm smoothing it out right now.

What do you mean? I bought some steel sheets from Lowe's and cut the pieces to size. Then I welded it all to the hood.

I have been wanting to vent my hood for a while now. I don't like the supra style that much. It's too well known. I am going to do something a bit more original. It's just a matter of time...

If u cut the hood like that, dont u have to reinforce the hood? And also, how do u get the guts to cut up an expensive c/f hood like that? lol
