Hey 6gc people.
I have just recently bought a 1994 celica ZR (hatch). I know there are a lot of kits in the parts db but I wanted to see if anyone here has a '94 or '95 and has some suggestions on a possible front end that will fit right on my car. WTF? Thanks. By the way, if you didn't know, the GT is the American version of the ZR |

The two different styles of bumper ARE inter-changable. I fitted the facelift bumper from a '98 car to my '94 Celica and it was a perfect fit, no problems.
No gaps or anything. The turn signals are different though. I reckon the facelift ones look better and you get clear turn signals which you can't get for the 94/95 cars. But some like the early bumpers so its down to personal taste. -------------------- Facelift bumper-foglights-clear indicators, clear side repeaters, 16in O.Z alloys, stainless steel grill. JDM facelift tail lights. clear sidelights. Retro-fit A/C conversion. APEX performance springs. Remus exhaust. K&N performance filter. KYB excel G shocks.
Hyundai coupe Mk 3 (US Tiburon) leather seats. Gen 7 s/wheel. SR black vinyl door cards. Late spec spoiler-less tailgate with 3rd brake light. |

Thanks for the quick replies + and the photos rlan....
This is weird because from those pictures I reckon this car has the 96+ bumper (or a really similar one.. with the fog light area), I also know that it hasn't been changed by previous owner, but it is a 1994. I have full receipts/services too! So I think the ZR (which is the top sports model) has a different front than your GT. Maybe I am just dreaming though I will take a few snaps in a couple of days when I pick up the car (it's fkin ages away!) You have all pretty much said they are interchangable... but I've read on a couple of sites, including somewhere here on 6gc, that some kits just won't fit on pre '94 celicas easily. Plus a local body shop in my city says their 5 layer V-Style kit only fits '96-'98 cars... Sooo what fronts have you 94/95 owners got, and how well did they fit? Did you know that in Australia, all of the '94-'98 model range had the 2.2 Litre 5S-FE Engine? None of this pussy little 1.8 litre crap!! Too slow! |

No kits will fit on pre '94 Celicas easily, but that's because that's a whole different generation(In the US anyways...did Toyota make a sixth generation Celica that is a '93 model in Australia? If so, kits will fit it fine.) The only problem you'll run into with the V-Style kit is that the front is just a lip rather than a whole replacement bumper, so you have to get the lip that corresponds with the posts in your bumper. Companies make a lip for the '94-'95 and one for the '96-'99, so just be sure you get the right one. I can't wait to see some pics of your car. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

DOH! sorry for the typo... I meant pre '96! My mistake. Basically I just wanted to know how tricky it will be to add front apron by myself... what has to be done when installing on a 94/95 differently to the 96-98 cars. Anyways thanks for your help, and I'll get some photos happening soon Ps.. sounds like the V-Style isn't my style then |

Figures. Even kangaroo chasers get better cars than the US does. I would think that GT4s would be available down there also since they have rally events down there and all. |

You would think so, but whats funny is that I think they have the sr20 in there versions of the 240 which is the 200 for them, I think?

Ermm.. What's a kangaroo chaser? By the way.. I was tripping out about the front on the car.. its just the regular 94/95 one. There are a lot of hotted up cars in my city (like lots and lots), and I have only ever seen 1 6th gen GT4. Plenty of 5th gen ones though. This is because we have VERY strict laws on the distinction between rally/road registerable laws.. and rally cars can't be bought without a rally license. So... to get one you'd probably have to import it yourself, which could be done, as we get loads of skylines, supras, soarers, etc, etc.. This post has been edited by kamixZR: Mar 8, 2003 - 2:54 AM |

Damn that sucks dood! It's always something with other countries when it comes to importing the GT4. I guess Japan doesn't care what happens to their economy. |
