I have a samota induction kit off the 98 1.4 civic sits perfectly behind the fan with a long chrome pipe very nice and great performance + it fits with no messing around at all straight on

i have a question about backpressure...i understand why you don't want too much, but i don't see why too little would make you lose power. i know that it does, because a buddy of my put huge exhaust on his na integra and you could tell the difference and i have heard from plenty of people that too little backpressure is bad. but what is the actual reason why power is lost?
