After taking it in to the shop I've found that my engine is in good condition, but that the turbo is causing lots of smoke. They said that it has 'pretty bad' shaft play and needs to be replaced. I'm obviously already looking for a new one, but don't know if this situation is immediate and what further harm I'll cause to my turbo.
I'd like to take a few days and find a good quality turbo, but don't know how much time I have left on this one. Not sure if the remainder of its life is entirely dependent on the situation/equipment, but the volume of the smoke is about the size of a car and only spits out when I'm not pushing the accelerator down. The turbo spools fine, and can still make 7lbs. of boost. Any educated guesses would be much appreciated. Thanks. -------------------- ![]() |
