You need to remove the fender to take the stock hinges off and put the new hinges on, but when your door is closed it looks like normal. Nobody knows you have them until you open your doors, and people are like "DANG look at that" biggrin.gif

Will it break if someone opens it fast and doesn't kno it goes up? Or if ur bringing it down and u don't know when it stops? Also, is it a sharp horizontal-vertical movement, like an L, or is it more of a guided curve, like a J.

One more thing, I've noticed with my trunk shocks, that when its left open for awhile, the grease along the outside of the shock dries up and its really hard to close the trunk. is it just me or does that happen to everyone too? Anyways, I was wondering if the same thing happens to the door shocks. Thanks.

The hinge itself shouldn't break the only thing i am worried about is my fenders cracking. They touch when the doors are all the way open but they will not break. The worst thing that can happen by not opening them right is your interior panels could rip.You can make it look like a J or an L depending on how you open it. I tell people to open it like an L so they don't rip my interior panels. I open it like a J because i am good. You adjust it so it can only go down so far. You just pull it down till it stops then shut it like a normal door. I haven't noticed it being harder to shut after they have been open like your hatch.

I was going to say the same just out of experience with shocks. Basically is gonna be like he said. I wouldn't concern myself with it cracking the fender to much because the shock isn't THAT strong and its not like your throwing the door upward. If guests get it the car and dont know, they will open the door like normal, it'll stop.... they be taken back. Most that'll happen is that their hands will slip off the door handle. I'd probably say that your door handle itself would break before this kit, so its like me saying .... it wont break. Then you'll tell them to lift the door, they'll lift it like the hatch. So its not gonna fly towards the sky. Upon closing, you'll just pull the door down until it wont go futher, then close it like normal. Again, its not like someone is crashing down on the door to make it fall, it'll just be a slight tug and close. smile.gif As for your hatch, your shocks need replacing. The shocks are slightly leaking probalby due to age. It happens, not a biggy though. These shocks and parts have warranty on these, so dont worry about faulty parts!!!

Oh, as for the interior panels with this kit. According to Rob, the door will rest against the handle of the door. So it clears the vinyl and leather by a couple inches. Its possible your Decah kit didn't give you enough clearance. Remember guys, this kit was MADE for our cars, so they took in all of these factors. Thanks for helping out C3L1CA, its nice to have someone with experience talk about the kits. smile.gif

also a pic of the inside of the drivers side raised door from passengers seat point of view (or vice versa). i think that would give a good idea of how high the door handle is. thanks for all the pics, btw. sorry to keep bugging.

If you have an Invader bumper, well any bumper for that matter, you do have to remove it to take the fender off. There is a bracket with three screws that hold the fender dierectly to the bumper. then you have one screw inside your door jam, one underneath car on the bottom of the fender and the ones under the hood.

I have a question. I want to shave my door handles, will this kit interfere with any of that? Thanks.

hey Ti,

they say they include wire extensions in the kit. Any idea what that is and how it works?

94RedCelica - shave em' and it'll look even better.

Neoklis - the wiring is just extentions, you just gotta splice and retape. Shouldn't be too hard. I'm checking on shipping for you.
