hold on.. you plan to OC your computer from 2.8 to 3.5. that is a 25% increase. and you are leaving your mother board chip set heat sink stock? you do realize when you start over clocking that thing starts to get hot. plus the fact that you will no longer be air cooled, so airflow in your case will be near zero. if you plan to go this route i recomend you keep an eye on your mobo temp..

Im still going to have some air flow in the case, Ill leave a few fans in there, but you are right, Im going to look into cooling for my northbridge. I decided to go with a slightly smaller heatercore, 7x6x2, that will save me a bit of money, and it may fit in my case with some customization. Anyways that way I can probably afford a northwood block. Im not going to be an idiot and overclock if its going to be damaging to anything. My computer is fine how it is, I would just like to be able to push it farther when it needs it. I just really have no experience with how hot the northbridge will get, since mine sits around ambient case temp, I assumed it wouldnt be alot. Thanks for the enlightenment. |

My comp only has 2 light sources, the x800 has blue leds and my psu has some multi coloUr fans. This post has been edited by Uppitycracker: Nov 21, 2004 - 4:43 PM |

Double Heater Core Radiator, 11" x 6 1/8" x 2" - $34.99
Danger Den Fill port - $11.95 Hydo L25 Pump, 185gph - $37.95 Barbed Polypropylene T - $1.75 10ft Clearflex60 Tubing - $10.00 20x Adjustable Plastic Hose clamp - $15.00 Clear Cylindrical Reservior -$25.00 Maze4 CPU Block - $36.70 Maze4 GPU Block - $39.95 8x Ramsinks - $19.95 4oz Water Wetter - $3.50 Total - $236.74 + shipping all 1/2 pipe size Well you could buy a premade WC kit. But to me it sounds like you want to OC so go with what you have. Heres a little hint though, Radiator Core-If you can weld buy a used heater core from the junkyard, any car will do and weld the 1/2 inch pipe attachments on. The heater core is only like 5 bucks. Not sure what the danger den fill port is but you dont need it if you are buying a reservior, they have fill ports in them. Your 10ft tubing, go to Home Depot or any hardware store and buy the clear vinyl tubing. 10ft is $1.35 at Home Depot for me. Also buy metal clamps, not cheap ass plastic ones, Home Depot carries them for 79 cents a piece and they use a screw to tighten them down. What are you putting the ram sinks on? Your Motherboard? or Video Card? You shouldnt need that T line either, T and F lines slow down your flow since you are using a 185gph it will be at about 90-100 after 4ft of line. Also if your on a budget then dont buy a reservoir, use a T fitting and put a line up to the top of your case to hold more water and used as a fill port. Either option will do neither is better then the other, minus the amount of water the reservoir holds. I also recomend going to Petsmart or Petco and buying a water pump there. You can get that same pump for around $15. Make sure it has both inlet and outlet though. ![]() The order you should have your setup is: resovoir-pump-radiator-cpu-and anything else(in this case gpu) before it goes back to the resovoir. Also if you put the radiator in the front of your case and im assuming its 80mm fans put 4 on the rad. 2 on the front side sucking air in, 2 on the back blow the air out, it will circulate more air this way and cool the water faster. Hit me on aim if you want to ask me any questions. Scheetz316 PS. HAHAHAH 2.5ghz HAHAHAH im running a P4 3.0ghz OC'd to 3.ghz4 with a 1gig Dual Channel ram and a FX5900 ultra is on its way. Awesome thanks for the tips man!! Also my cpu is a 2.8e not to far from yours, with 1 gig dual channel ram and a x800 pro Is that yor setup above?? Ya the list of parts has changed a bit since I posted that, Ill do a revised version in a bit. For the heater core I dont have a welder, I dont mind spending 15 more dollars to have a ready to go one. the heat sinks are for my video card, my system memory stays stock and they already have aluminum covers for cooling. Ya Im going to see what I can get around here for cheap, thanks again for tips on where to get stuff! |

Ill defenately cunsult with you when Im building the system, heres a revised list:
Danger Den list Double Heater Core Radiator, 11" x 6 1/8" x 2" - $34.99 ehiem 1250(317gph) - $59.00 Danger Den bay reservior (crack proof) - $17.95 Maze4 CPU Block - $36.70 Maze4 GPU Block - $39.95 8x Ramsinks - $19.95 4oz Water Wetter - $3.50 Total - $212.04 + shipping Local store list 10ft 1/2 tubing $2.00 20x metal clips $10.00 misc parts $20.00 4x120mm fans - $26.90 Total $58.90 + tax Grand total 272.04 Misc parts are going to be things like spray paint and sheet metal since the heatercore is way to big to go into my case, Im going to build a shroud/stand for it. Some stuff might cost more from danger den, but its basically a matter of convenience. I wish the damn 120mm fans weren't so expensive, Im hoping to get them off ebay for a good price. QUOTE(celicarocker @ Nov 21, 2004 - 6:50 PM) 330gph water pump $20 radiator $20, but not as gigantic as you want it the pump possibly, though Id prefer to go with one that has a good name like ehiem, and that rad is way to small, the heater core I want probably has 500% the surface space and only 10 bucks more. from what i have read, these are good and cheap fans: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...6705183725&rd=1 This post has been edited by Uppitycracker: Nov 21, 2004 - 8:59 PM |

that pump on ebay wont work. dont even bother,
buy a pump from http://superfishstore.com/waterworld/nfosc...ex.php?cPath=36 mainly look at Mag Drive, they work the best and are a good cheap price. the enhiems are also very good but costly. they only problem i had with a radiator is trying to find one with 1/2inch outlet /inlets. Most are 3/8s so you need a enlarger/reducer. those fans are also 3 pin so you will need either an adapter to the 4pin or you need a fan controller to hook it up to. -------------------- hows it taste motha f*cka |

Yeah i just realized that you are have a double 120mm radiator. You dont need that big not for your cpu and gpu. If you want that extra cooling you could just buy 2 80mm rads and put 1 before the cpu and 1 before the gpu. However I have a 120mm rad with 1fan on each side and it cools verywell for the cpu and i added a gpu also and have had no problems.
