I normally would post this on an pure audio forum but i trust this forum most and i dont belong to any pure car audio forums. So ill just ask my question here.
I know theres a good amount of companies out there who make amps. Other then the name brand ones which ones are good? Ive been debating between a name brand one (kicker or pioneer) and a amp from "Profile." Ive read some reviews on their amps and have found ppl to like their amps, mostly their Califorina series amp. Im planing on getting either a 4 or 2 channel. Ill be amping two subs and two rmb8 mid bass speakers. At first i was just going to amp my subs but figured that since im guna be amping things i might as well get a 4 chan and amp both my subs and my mid bass. Although my mid bass sound fine on the stock set up. And just so i know it is better to have a chanel for each speaker or sub instead of runing two speakers/subs off of one chanlle right? Thanks btw this is the profile amp im looking at if i get a 4 chan. at http://www.audio-warehouse.com/web/mdl/AP1040/detail.asp the 2 chan one http://www.audio-warehouse.com/web/mdl/AP600/detail.asp This post has been edited by urbandork: Nov 23, 2004 - 10:22 PM |

it jsut depends on how you want to wire them up for the bridging or 1 chan per speaker

I was under the impression that if briged id be running one speaker/sub off of two channels. is that right? my question was about running two speakers/subs off of one channel.
but more importantly is there anything bad about Profile california amps? |

A. what kind of subs do you have?) B. you want a mono channel amp for your subs) C. if you only plan on powering your midbass speakers, then get a small mono or 2 channel amp, if you want to power your midbass speakers and a couple other speakers, then get a 4 channel.) also Profile isnt really that good, but it will do the job i guess. look into JBL amps are www.sounddomain.com

i plan on amping my subs (kicker comp c10) and my mid bass. But dont want to spend a lot.
R you saying i should get a mono for my subs and a 2 chan for my mid bass. I dont have the cash for a mono and 2 chan. Could i just run my subs and mid bass off of a 4 chan or would it be a better idea to only get a 2 chan and amp my subs and leave my mid bass alone. hifonic hum ill look into that. What about power acoustik btw im not planing running to much power mabye 80-100w to each sub or mid bass. This post has been edited by urbandork: Nov 24, 2004 - 12:35 AM |

eh, to me HiFonics isnt very good, more like Audiobahn stuff to me, but thats my opinion. using a 4 channel amp will not give your subs a good signal, they are sloppy for subs. here..
JBL 300.1 http://www.cardomain.com/item/JBLBP3001Z JBL 80.4 http://www.cardomain.com/item/JBLP804Z the 300.1 will give your subs a clean 150rms each. perfect for them subs the 80.4 will give your midbass drivers that good punch. this is a very good deal at a Very cheap price. you will not find any better amps New at this price that will beat the JBL quality. JBL amps put out the rms they say. and are very reliable amps. i have a friend that has a JBL 1200.1 powering his two 15" Adire Audio Tempests and he loves it to death, and he has TWO 80.4's powering all his mids, and highs. and he loves them also. i plan on buying the JBL 600.1 for my 15" Tempest very soon also. well to me audiobahn is crap...not total crap but your paying for a good looking less powerfull amp..i personal dont like chrome cuz it doesnt help with heat..thats why they have fans...hifonics isnt the best but they produce alot of power for a good price...if you can wired you subs into a 1 ohm load then thats the way i would go...
4 channel would only under power your subs.... i would stay away from your mid bass save that for next time how much is the rms on those subs? my guess is some where around 150-200 rms? if soo you want to give a little more power then 80-100rms power... PA isnt to bad of a brand...i mean if you got a good deal dont pass it by...just make sure what ever you choice it gonna give out enough power to the subs....and enclosure has to be good to cuz that can make a good sub sound bad |

Big thanks to all. I think ill leave my mid bass till next time as it sounds like doing both mid and sub's will either cost to much or if using a 4 chan will end up turning out bad.
Thank for the advice and giving me something to work on. Whats teh best way to wire the subs? 2 chan with one chan for each sub or a mono with the single chan running both subs. If so how do i do this? This post has been edited by urbandork: Nov 24, 2004 - 5:13 AM |

best way to wire it is to find out the if what your coils break down too..
are they dual voice coils...single or soo that way you have to get a amp around that...if your subs can be wired down to 1 ohm and your amp can handle running at that then thats your best bet... find out what you have to run your subs for best performance and amp too 4 ohm load 2 ohm load 1 ohm load should say on your amp the configurations it can handle...i say this cuz most the time if you run say a 2 ohm load and your amps puts out 500 watts for rms at 2 ohm and you wire it for a 4 ohm load it can sometimes cut the power in half..and losting half power is no good |

What would you suggest for these specs
Model C10 Size (IN., CM) 10, 25.4 Impedance (OHMS) 4,8 (im getting the 4 ohm one) Maximum Amplifier Power (WATTS PEAK) 250 Maximum Amplifier Power (WATTS RMS) 125 Sensitivity (dB 1W/1M) 87.7 Frequency Response (HZ) 30-500 Mounting Depth (IN., CM) 4-9/16, 11.6 Mounting Hole Diameter (IN., CM) 9-5/32, 23.3 Min Rec Sealed Box Vol (CU. FT., LITERS) 1.0, 28.3 Max Rec Sealed Box Vol (CU. FT., LITERS) 2.4, 67.9 Min Rec Vented Box Vol (CU. FT., LITERS) 1.25, 35.4 Max Rec Vented Box Vol (CU. FT., LITERS) 1.75, 49.6 (spec taken from kicker.com) I i hear you right id be looking for a 2 chan amp (one chan per sub) that can put out no more then 125 rms @ 4 ohm and peaks no higher then 250w @ 4 ohm. ??? Or could this sub run on a 1 ohm amp. No right? And if it were a choice between power acostik, profile, and hifonics which one would be better? http://www.audio-warehouse.com/web/mdl/AP600/detail.asp i have found this amp for around 50 bucks. worth it? http://www.cardomain.com/item/POWOV2520 or this power acostik for about 75 bucks. Im leaning toward this one. http://www.cardomain.com/item/POWLT9802 this power acoustik amp is around 100 bucks. Why are there no peak rms ratings for the power acostik amp?
