Heres how it all started out.... (story time people! gather round!
![]() I was leavin from a job interview I totally flopped... LOL Anyways, it was in the midde of August and it was a pretty hot day out... So I reach up for th latches to unhook the top, and without really looking, thinking I was hitting the button that puts the top down, I hit the wrong button. The button that puts down the back window behind the driver's seat.... I was like "eh... oops... wrong button" so I push the right button and put the top all the way down. Then I push the back window button, click it up, but wait a minute... something was wrong.... the window wouldnt go up. ![]() I was like "okay...." and kept pushing the button for it to go up. Even more confused, I pushed down on the button, and what do you know! The window went down! Starting to get a little frustrated, I push up on the button, but no luck... It wouldnt go up. I could keep explaining what happened next but that'll take too long... Dont wana bore ya people ![]() But yeah... The probelm of the story is... My back window will go down but not up. But here's another twist.... Once my dad got home to check out the problem, he took this little tiny machine thing and probed the button (to the back window), gave the button a little tiny shock and WOO! The window went back up again. Then he put the window back down, but this time without the machine thing, he tried to put the window back up but like before.... It wouldnt go back up unless he had the machine thing do it.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() WHATS GOING ON HERE!? Is it the switch? Should I get a new one? Is there something wrong with my window? I dunno! HELP!!!!!!! *Sabrina This post has been edited by CelicaBuddy: Nov 23, 2004 - 5:15 PM -------------------- ![]() 2003 Nissan Murano SE |

Sounds like a switch problem to me. You're talking about the rear windows on each side of the car, right? If so, does the other side work? If it does, try swapping the switches and see if that works. If it makes the other window not work and the one with the problem work, then it's a bad switch and you'd need to get that replaced.

Hmm.... That is a very good idea
LOL Why didnt I think of that!? ![]() Yeah the other back window works fine.. LOL damn! I gotta try dat tho ![]() Thanx *Sabrina Edited Version: ![]() Uh-oh I just remembered..... I cant quite remember but Im pretty sure we tried that. And for some strange reason, the switches were a little different. I cant really recall, but I do remember my dad mentioning that he tried to switch em around, but for some reason the wiring was different.... Damn! I wish I could remember! But I do believe we already tried that... now that i think of it.... I'll havta get back to ya on this one.. Just to make sure This post has been edited by CelicaBuddy: Nov 23, 2004 - 6:46 PM -------------------- ![]() 2003 Nissan Murano SE |

Yeah, I checked in with my dad bout switching the switch things... Yeah that was his first attempt to get it fixed but well... For soem reason, the swtches are different...
How strange is that? ![]() Hmm... But now we have a new theory on why its not working.... My dad says that there could be something wrong with the "brain", as my dad likes to call it. Ya know like the power control system in th car. Like to unlock doors, roll down windows, ect. My dad thinks that there could be a little glich in the "brain" b/c he mentioned that when I unlock my car door, it should also unlock the passenger door too, which it doesnt for some reason. He thinks that if he can fix the "brain" itll fix my back window, it'll fix my door locking situatin and then evrything will be fine and we wont havta get a new switch. I on the other hand I still think that something is worng with the switch. But thats just me... I duno tho... what do you guys think? Or are you just as confused as I am ![]() -------------------- ![]() 2003 Nissan Murano SE |

I'm not sure how the sixth gen. door lock/window computer works and stuff...my car never had power options from the factory, but I'm sure someone can help you out.

what do you mean by unlock your door? You mean from the outside with your key? if so mine, never did... or did it? I dont think it did, or it might have if you turn the key twice. I dont remember because i had an alarm system installed about a year ago that gave me remote door locks
As for the switch to put down the quarter windows, it sounds like a switch problem to me as well. Because you said that once he put the 'machine thingy' to the switch it worked fine. I dont see how the 'machine thingy' could temperarily fix the 'brain.' btw, what exactly is the 'machine thingy?' Is it a multimeter? voltage generator? stud finder? perhaps if you can tell us what it was, we can get a better understanding of whats going on. -------------------- Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it... |

LOL
I knew Id confuse ya guys with this stuff ![]() Sorry Im so.... uhh... blank on the description stuff. LOL Yeah, Im just as confused as you guys are on this whole thing. ![]() LOL Im assuming this machine thing is probably a voltage generator... Because my dad said it gave the switch or soemthing a shock, making the window go up. But Ill ask my dad about the machine thing he used.... I still think it the whole problem is dealing with the switch tho. But yea.. LOL lemme get back to yall on this one again... ![]() sory bout the confusion bt yeah thanks for helping out! ![]() Ill get back to you gys soon! -------------------- ![]() 2003 Nissan Murano SE |

Hey yall
Heh heh... My dad used a voltage meter to check where power was in the switch (the bad one), and I think he couldnt find any power in it. Then to get the window back up, he took a jump wire and crossed the circuts to the window to get it back up. So it wasnt the machine that made the window go up, he just crossd some wires to get a little power in the switch to make the window go up.... Hmm..... Yeah this sucks.... I really want my window working again! ![]() Does still sound like a switch problem to yall.... Cuz it does to me. Oh and about my door... Yeah I dont have an alarm sytem that unlocks the doors automatically yet, so I havta use a key. My dad says it should unlock both sides automatically when I turn the key, but it doesn't... dont think it maters how many times you turn the key, the pasenger side just wont open. Thats why my dad thinks there might be a slight probelm with the system that controls all them power options.... Cuz when I start my car, and all the doors are open, they'll lock. So we're thinking that the passenger door should open too when the car is being unlocked.... But I dont know. This is a confusing topic isnt it? ![]() Does anybody else's Celica do that too? (Poeple without an alarm sysytem) When you go out to unlock you celica by key, does the passenger side not open for you also? -------------------- ![]() 2003 Nissan Murano SE |

mine does that. i dont think it should unlock the passenger side.... i dont want mine to if its sposed to. as for the auto locking when you start going, mine doesnt have that....maybe manuals dont have that, or the 1st owner disabled it. doesnt bother me though....maybe it wasnt standard eqip. on a 95 gt?

Hmm... I duno the door i suppose to be like that or not... it doesnt bothr me either, that the key will unlock my side but not the passengers.... it only bugs my dad.
![]() But yeah.... Pretty soon I'll be finding out if its a switch problem. Thanks ta madmods. Thanks again for those pages. ![]() -------------------- ![]() 2003 Nissan Murano SE |
