I am looking to tint my Celica and wanted some hints and tips. I have heard that unless you really know what you're doing, you should leave it to a professional. If this is true, how do I go about finding a local shop that will do a quality job and use good tint?

It looks like from the chart linked below that here in NC, I'm looking at 35% tint. How much is a quality black tint going to run parts and labor?

I think I paid 120 for mine. 35% all around, no tinting in the front. 35% and 15% is the most common. You'll have to sign a contract for 15% because it's illegal.

I'm in PA and my tint was 150 to go 22% all the way around. I also added the front window strip later for like 15.

I think if I remember right the brand of film they used was Solar Gard. It came with a lifetime warranty for peeling, cracking, bubbling, or fading.

most PA places use Solar Gaurd, and although it's probably not that bad, this guy that my step-dad knows does tinting in Arizona as his job for Limos and such, and says Solar Guard is Crap.

i had to take mine off when i got pulled over, but yea...wish i coulda found out if it turns purple

hiya
ive had a pro do mine it cost £200 now in UK u can only get the back done cos its illegal.
So i did it myself on the celica the back is easy to do the front is very hard you will have to take the glass out of the door. If you dont lay it right which u want u will get bubbles and they turn in to silver crappy things so havin a silver film is a gd idea

I think tint shouldn't turn purple unless you don't clean it, I think most places suggest you clean it with a silicon cleaning solution after a month, I've had mine for almost a year and there is no purple. About solar guard being crap, I couldn't tell you every where I went had it, but as long as the shop warranties it for life I don't care smile.gif
