"Don't fall in love with anything, cuz everything's up for sale" My uncle told me that this weekend. He's been fairly sucessful too as a business man. I don't know if any of you remember, but I've been talking highly of the V8 rx-7 swap a bit.

Well the day has come. A buddy of mine is sell is his FC RX-7 with a LS1 (corvette engine) swapped in. It has recaro seats and a nitrous works setup as well. He ran a 12.8 on all busted shocks with no nos. Not bad. He's selling it for $6,500. I personally love the 80's jap style. But I know this car will need a paint job. And probably all the shocks replaced. He's going to put a new rear end and stainless steel brake lines, new rotors, and pads b4 he sells it. Also those interiors are really ugly. So I'll replace the steering wheel with a sparco too.

What I love about this car is it's potential. It's already fast as hell. And with a paint job, some JDM **** (like tails and junk), and new suspension, BBS mess wheels, new steering wheel, this could be a real sexy car with a lot of fast potential. A 12.8 w/o nitrous is nutty.

My only problem, is i do fall in love with stuff. Like my celi. I do enjoy it. But as a car enhuaists, I hate lossing. And I lose a lot of races. I'm tried of being afraid of even a civic EX. And with that FC....I could beat even a Z06. I wouldn't worry about anything on the road. That car chrips friggin 4th gear. I kinda want it, but here are my compliants.

-News work (suspension, paint, interior work [just jazzup])
-Winter would be a bitch. And i have winter tires for the celi comin in. I'd need wheels that would fit the FC and tires.
-Insurance? Hard to say till I call
- Sexy appeal wouldn't be what I want it to be till it gets painted and nice wheels.

What I love?
- Fast. Ungodly fast. No more fear of anything on the road
- Could become a car tha'ts dead sexy and fast as anything.
- With the suspension fixed, nos sprayed, and cams and heads, I'd see 11s easily...if I hook up.
- Knowing I'm one of the fastest seat legal cars...priceless
- It's far cheaper then picking up an FC, doing the swap, and putting in recaros and nos.

So what'd you think? And please back up ur reason with more then "Celicas rock! Do a 3s swap! Support the community."

that sounds awesome man. but as far as selling the celi and buying it .. depends what you want out of it. sounds like you are into drag racing which the FC would be ideal for. but as with any highly modified car its probably going to see downtime and you won't want to be driving it everyday. can you afford a beater and any repair costs that might come with the FC?

Well....if worst came to worst I could shell out for a real cheap beater. But I'd rather not. As far as down time due to mods, I'm not worried. What I am worried about is the thing going bad and me not knowing what to do cuz i didnt do the swap

i really love the look of the FCs as well. And with a vett engine instead of the rotary it would not need as much upkeep.

Also, what are your plans for your celi if you dont get the FC? Would it be the same amount of work if you do get the FC?

Its really up to you. If you hate not being fast that much, i would go for it. For me its not a problem since i just dont care if a ricer civic thinks hes faster than me. But just driving in an FC with that power and thier handeling (although not as good w/o the rotary) would be damn cool!
