I dont know too much about the BMW but I have driven a few SC's before. I wanted an sc as my first car but the insurance was way outrageous for one so yeah... Anyways, SC300s are super smooth, pretty quick, and for a 2 door, fairly roomy. The straight six is quite a reliable powerplant, as is the rest of the car. I like the dash layout more than that gen of 3 series, its similar in layout to our cars with the climant and radio in the lower center of the dash. Overall they are awsome cars, but in terms of sporty, the BMW will have it beat unless you have miracle happen and find one with a stick

My dad had a 96 328iS (S comes with M3 suspension) and it was nice, good pick up, looked good, heated seats, the works. It was a really nice car, but its not a family car.
