Sigh...I'm beginning to really dislike living in Yakima, where I've grown up for the past eighteen years of my life. For the longest time, everyone complained about Yakima and how boring it is, and I kind of agreed, but now I'm finally beginning to feel that way, and it's very depressing.
Like this weekend for example...Friday I went out of town, so that was alright. Saturday my friends were all recovering from the night before all day long, so I finally met up with a few of them around 7:00 PM. We drove around for a bit and hung out for a bit, and then they all decided they wanted to go hang out at this house. So I was down, until on the way they told me about how high they were going to get...apparently the house we were going to was a drug dealer's house. So once I found this out, I told them I wanted to do something else. Being the addicts that they are, they decided to go to the house, so I dropped them off and drove around for a bit. Called a couple more friends in Yakima, and they were drunk at parties. So I went home at 8:30 and sat in my room bored all night long. That's only one example, but that's typically what happens on the weekends. And it used to be a lot better. When my true friends were in town(they're out of town at college now), we'd always do fun stuff not relating to drugs and alcohol. Also, I'm friends with a lot of people who are into cars. We used to hang out a lot in parking lots and talk cars and go cruise around in groups and stuff, but cops cracked down on all of us hardcore. Friends got trespassing tickets...one was arrested after he spoke his mind on the cops of Yakima. We were told by cops that they'd rather see us drunk at parties than hanging out talking cars in a parking lot. So now there's no more hanging out with the car buddies talking cars or cruising around. And while all this has been happening, I've witnessed drug dealers I know get let off with an ounce of marijuana on them(that the cops found.) I've witnessed drunk/high friends of mine get pulled over and get let off. I've read about the constantly increasing theft and violence problems. Just a couple weeks ago my friend's Integra was stolen at 6PM at a large grocery store. Last weekend my friend drove home so drunk that she couldn't walk. She got pulled over 1 mile from her house and let go, because she was so close to home. Where are the cops at? Oh, there they are...they've got six cop cars busting up a meeting of eight imports hanging out in a public park parking lot. Glad to see my tax dollars are going somewhere good. Why isn't anything going on to stop this? Oh, my parents just voted to hire more cops in the city. Now they can have that seventh and eighth cop car...one for each import car in the parking lot. At least maybe the city's judicial system is legit and we car enthusiasts can get out of these BS tickets. Oh wait...last time I went to court I got harassed by the judge because my car looks so much like a cop car while a businessman who hit some lady while speeding in his Benz got his reckless charges dropped. I'm just so sick of it...Yakima is horribly depressing. I don't even hardly drive my yellow Celica anymore because I get stopped and harassed for everything. Instead of the fun I once had on the weekends in Yakima, I now spend my nights out of town or alone, because I don't want to be at some party or a drug dealer's house. I know I have to move...I need to finish up this year of school and then I hope to be gone. I just need to vent sometimes...I wasn't even that mad or depressed when I started writing this. Now I've almost got tears in my eyes thinking about how much Yakima disgusts me. I just can't stand it. Yakima is one of the biggest drug-trafficking counties in the nation. We rank highest in the state for violent crime, rape, and theft per capita. And it's only getting worse, with no positive outlook for the future. Oh wait...here's something positive...kids peacefully hanging out in parking lots is down 90%...as a result, those kids will probably turn to drugs for lack of anything better to do...a few might die from crack or meth or alcohol poisoning. But the cops would rather see that than see us hanging out in a parking lot. At least the city has their priorities straight. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

wow Coomer, Yakima seems like a hell-hole. be strong man and get out of there as soon as possible. there are still some great places in this world of ours, we only have to look. speaking of which a friend of mine just sent pictures from China, and while where I'm at isn't all that bad, I can't wait to graduate so I can get out and explore the world

QUOTE(Yota @ Dec 5, 2004 - 11:08 PM) Whats the population of Yakima? That really sucks... I'd get outta there too if I were you! How old are you, also? It's about 220,000 people. I'm nineteen and I've had nothing but trouble with drugs and bad luck and stuff since I started college. Ironically, I used to go to a four-year university. I spent two quarters there until I couldn't take it anymore...my room-mate was a drug dealer and life was a nightmare. My grades for the winter quarter suffered as a result and I ended up back in community college in Yakima for spring quarter after my parents gave up faith on me...they told me to my face that I was a f*ck-up...to this day they still think I'm on drugs. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I know how it is. I live in Mobile, AL. We have to find a new spot almost every hour. The cops are so stupid though. We were hangin out in a parking lot and the cop rolled up, and said over his bullhorn that we (30 ish cars) have 30 sec. to clear the area. Good idea porky. Oh well.

thats sort of how it is here.
once u get to 16 years old and get a car, everything u can possibly do in this city becomes boring, leaving the option of leaving the city(not so bad, LA is like 30 miles away) or drugs and alcohol. needless to say, all the kids out here go with the last two. thankfully i have my projects to keep me busy my 260z and my/my cousin's 1996 mustang GT and when they are done, im only about 30 minutes away from a 1/4 mile track im also going to try to organize a local autocross thing at this place in my city that used to have all different types of auto racing. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

once you know its time to move on- DO it! like you have said nothing is holding you to yakima, so make a clean break to someplace new... if it isnt for you it will end up making you appreciate yakima in the long run... The only time in our lives to act as if nothing really matters is when we are YOUNG- and even now thats slowly changing so do it while you still have the chance (i shoud take heed my own words...

Hey, if you hate it so much, gather up some money, and move somewhere.. I like living in a semi-country-ish city, where the average speed limit is 65MPH. I don't know much about the speed limits there, but if it's getting bad, then I say move. It's not worth being there if you hate it so much. Maybe you want to move to somewhere quiet or some where that's not so crowded.. I don't know.. Somewhere over the rainbow always sounded good to me.

Coomer you might want to make a calll to the FBI about this.. its sounds like your whole town is under the hands of drug dealers... or you could just move out here to Jersey City where only things cops care about is that your not dealing drugs or driving drunk.. other then that they are really cool...

Morgantown WV man. This place is great. I went into the police office the other day to pay a speeding ticket and they looked at me like I was nuts. One of them said, "A what? Speeding ticket? I guess we could have given someone a ticket. Oh, officer Baker. Yeah." And then they laughed about it. Driving rules up here don't exist. You do whatever you want. You hang out were ever you want. College town. Freedom is the name of the game.

hey com, sounds like you got it rough up there. Until you do move though try to make the best of it. Have people to a place where cops stay off ur ass and so forth it's real sad to see once friends sucked up in drugs but there's not much you can do unless they're willing, i live in a town of only 10,000 but alot of the same things go on here. Slowly and sadly I think everyone is adapting to this kind of lifestyle. but you're always welcome here in indiana if you'd like, later man

if you dont like what the cops are doing then get involved in your community and speak out, go to a city council meeting, and ask to present your complaint to the council. take videos of what your seeing and send in a story to the local paper/tv station. The police serve the people, if they are doing the wrong things and acting inappropiate you need to make people aware of it so they can be fired or reprimanded.
college is very distracting, especially when your living conditions aren't the best, roomates etc... maybe you should go to school and find a job out of state, you'll be a bit lonely at first but you wont have your parents bothering you or any irratations to distract you from school. Theres some good junior colleges in utah and idaho a bit in the wilderness, but all you have to worry about is school. |

You try getting some sun Coomer? Studies show that sunlight improves seratonin levels and can help make you feel better. Not saying it's you... but Northern WA people typically have a high rate of depression. Best sunlight is in CA and FL... ;]
Aside from that... I personally don't consider many or any of my acquaintences "friends". If they don't stick their necks out for me... I don't consider them friends. May sound kinda crude... but that's the way I always did it. I personally can only name a few people I consider true friends... and I've slept with 1/2 of them (women). What always helped me was self study and martial arts. Kept me grounded and out of trouble. I don't consider myself a really good mechanic or really smart or anything... but sometimes if you take a good look at yourself from another person's perspective... it can reveal interesting things about "self"... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I think thats very similar everywhere. Theres always going to be drugs and f-ed up cops. I know i live in a pretty popular drug area too. But i stay away from using, and dont hang out wiht people that use or sell drugs. My best0buddie for 15 years got into drugs.. and ****ked me over a few times, so i said **** it. I have been hanging more(last two years) with most of my bros friends, sence all my old ones became drug related. The sad thing is most are comp nerds, but we all like cars and have fun. A had full of times it does involve beer or somthing, but its not all bout it. I would say, try going back to college with one of your real good friends, or just moce to another state and start over.
