yes as stated i blackedout tonight sitting in my chair watching tv and had a seizure.

Ill tell you the story so gather round and listen up:

I was working on my computer case that i just bought cutting up the aluminium for some case mods. Well as you know metal is sharp when its cut and my hand slipped and sliced 2 of my fingers with some massive hack marks. I started pouring blood all over my case so i jumped up real quick and ran into my bathroom to clean my hands off and get some tissues on it to stop it from bleeding. After a couple minutes I wraped my hand and sat back down in my chair. No more then a minute later everything in my room went blurry and started spinning, then started shaking and just blacked out. My head dropped back and smashed in my book shelf, the wrap on my hand landed about 5 feet away from me and my knee nailed the computer case that i was working on. I dont know how long I was out for but when i came to everything seemed normal except i felt like complete sh*t. Like take a hangover and triple it. All i can say is when i was out it felt like a dream, I could feel my body shake but i just couldnt do anything about it.

My parents freaked out and so did my girlfriend when i talked to her afterward. I still dont know what caused it but im thinking when i jumped up real quick i threw my body out of its "balance" like when you jump out of bed in the morning and get dizzy. But its never been like this before.

Well that took me about 10 minutes to type becuase of all the spelling errors i had to correct.

I dont know how much blood i lost but my case had it dripping all down the side and all over my hands.

Other than a crucial headache and the complete feeling of sh*t i guess im alright.

I'm glad that you were ok, but it wasn't a seizure. That's what happens when blood doesn't reach the brain for a little bit, and everything stops working. Blood is like oil.. Your car needs oil, you need blood circulating... Or something.. But I'm glad you're ok and stuff. smile.gif

I thought a seizure was when you start shaking uncontrollably?

Alright I read up on it and aparently you can be fully aware, partially aware, or not aware at all that you had a seizure. You seem to fall into the partially aware category.

This is the link I was reading. http://www.intelihealth.com/IH/ihtIH/WSIHW...9339/10654.html

This sounds like what you had to me:

Generalized tonic-clonic seizure (also called grand mal seizure) — In this type of seizure, the person usually loses consciousness and falls to the ground. All body muscles can contract at once in a sustained contraction, or they can contract in a series of shorter rhythmic contractions, or both. Some patients also lose bowel or bladder control. The seizure episode typically lasts for less than a minute and is followed by period of lethargy (sluggishness) and confusion, possibly with muscle soreness and a headache.

Anyways the site recommends that anyone that has had there first seizure episode should be evaluted by a physician.

Also I don't think a seizure can be triggered by standing up to fast, Ive blacked out before for a second or 2 when I stand up to fast, I think thats normal, but not having a full on seizure.

Personally I dont think you had a seizure. I think you either went into shock for a second as a result of the blood. I find it hard to believe (although this means nothing really) that your brain will stop getting blood for any length of time especially due to a cut. People have hacked off arms and still get blood to their brain the body makes sure this happens since its the most vital organ.

My girlfriends sister has epilepsy, where you have seizures constantly, and she has around 3 a day. She does not shake but she will kinda scream in spurts and just grab onto you, and she is fully aware of whats goin on and what not. In fact she's going for her 3rd brain surgery in a couple weeks.

As far as I know seizers have nothing to do with the amount of blood getting to your brain.

"A seizure is a sudden, brief change in the normal electrical activity of the brain. During a seizure, brain cells "fire" uncontrollably at up to four times their normal rate, temporarily affecting the way a person behaves, moves, thinks or feels."

Right - I didnt say anything regarding the correlation between blood and seizures.

ive watched my mom have them - saved her life twice cuz of them

ITS VERY SCARY

my mom falls to the ground and shakes its so scary! Luckily now she can usually tell when they will happen about 20 seconds before so she either goes to my dads room and asks him to help her or she will just stay on the couch and wait it out. She just usually can not move the next day cuz shes so sore! Im just glad ive been there for the TWO real big ones

her first one and then when she was eating once she had one and started choking

im tearing up thinking about it!

I really dont think you had a sezure eathier. I have had that happen, when i have sliced my leg, and my hand open, and also when i got busted in the nose. I think it was just a quick loss of blood. It would have been a quick decress from your brain, witch causesd you to black out. same thing might happen say in a car wreck. I know iv fallin down an havnt woke up for like 3 min from cutting my leg open real bad. but it was also cause i hit my head when i fell. How much blood did you loose?

Alright, im just unclear why you were talking about it then, I must have missed something, sorry wink.gif

Oh and this may sound pussyish but i used to cook for 4 years and anyone whos worked in a kitchen knows how sharp the chef knifes are, basically could cut a finger off in the blink of an eye. Anyways I was copping parsley and sliced into the tip of my finger to the bone, it wasnt the worst cut ever but I did get a little woozy and almost pass out. I think its just th shock to your nervous system.
