How Careful are you about your Celi?, and does your girl care? Options

Hi,
Last night my girlfriend and I were fighting, because she thinks that my car is more important to me than her. Basically, I'm wondering if you guys are as careful(or more careful) than me about my car.

1. Do you guys park pretty far from other cars in parking lots, even if it means you have to walk further to get into wherever you're going? I usually park back in parking lots where I can be at least three spaces away from other cars, so that I don't get door dings, and so that it's more obvious if someone is doing stuff to my car. Every single time I pull in to a parking spot, she immediately groans and proceeds to complain about how obsessed I am with my car. She generally complains about how far of a walk it is as well, and if I offer to drop her off when I initially pull into a parking lot, she says it's not the walk, but my obsession that irritates her.

2. Do you guys not allow people to eat in your car? I usually don't let people eat in my car, and I especially try to get my girl to not eat in my car, because she is the messiest eater. She will either spill stuff everywhere, or get stuff all over her fingers and then wipe them on my passenger seat. So when I go to McDonalds and stuff with her, I always want to park and eat inside. Again, every single time I pull in to a parking spot, she immediately groans and proceeds to complain about how obsessed I am with my car. What made her furious was when I told her, "If I get racing seats, no-one is even gonna drink anything in my car besides water." We got into a huge fight over that one too.

Do you guys think that I'm too obsessed with my car and I shouldn't care so much about it? Is everyone as careful as me, or am I just too obsessed?

If I had a nice celica like yours i would be really obsessed =) I wouldn't want any paint chips or have my nice rims stolen lol. I used to be that obsessed, but not any more. My car needs to be painted, so I really worry about paint chips, and my rims are kinda low profile. When I park my car in the ghetto, I would often park my car next to brand new looking car =) Your car's color can be spotted from far away, so that sucks for you. By the way is your GF a hottie?

No, I don't think you're to obsessed. The way I look at it is that it's a matter of respect. If you care that much about your car your girlfriend should respect the way you feel about it. I don't usually let anyone eat or drink in my car. Trust me I feel the same way you do about my car.

Im a girl and i do the same exact thing you do. When I go to a grocery store i park in the back and park parlell and take up 4 spots doing it but seriously your girl needs to understand you have two important things in your life HER and YOUR CAR! But yeah girls get so weird when they have to walk a distance. At a celica meet i went to this guy left for a second to drive his girl over to the mall with her lil dog in hand so she could go to the restroom.

Anyways youre not obsessed..but if you spend so much time and money in something you obviously dont want it getting F'd up then havin to spend the money and time again fixing it!

you need to buy her a card and tell her how much you love her but say that your car is a reflection of who you are and youve invested so much time that you dont want it to get ruined cuz then it would mean more time to invest and less time with her

im with you coomer i take care of my car and its very rare that neone eats or anything in my car...but at least my girlfriend respects the fact and she knows i care alot bout my car but she also knows that i care more about her ...just dont worry bout maybe she should come read the responses were giving u and shell understand...hehe

You're not obbesed you value and respect your car. There is too many people that take their car for granted, esspiecally sp? girls. I'm sorry girls, but most of them don't care enough. Think about and people with snow know about this. All the times your car got you through all that snow and grime and all that other stuff. Not to mention getting you everywhere. I personally love my car. It is truly one of my bright spots in my life. Sure its just rubber, plastic and metal but hey it's a big part of my life. So Coomer keep loving your celi. I daily make myself walk 2-3x as far to get to class by parking in a spot that only has 1 spot beside it, and even then I park to the farthest side away from that spot...I already have a rather large door ding on each door so I'm pretty miffed about getting any more. Not too worried about theft or vandalism though, my car looks and is basically stock.

Well, for me I worked my ass off for my baby. My girlfriend at the time understood how much I worked for that car and how much it means to me. But I love it. I can't park way the hell out there cause Im at college and parking is a pain anyway. But I garendamnte you that when the body kit and repaint happens I will be more carefull where I park at places. But she should understand that you love her and your car. I can understand that you have put so much money into your car and you want it to look good. I also wash my car at least once a week when Im home or as soon as I can. I get complaments all the time on my car and when they ask how old it is they are impressed.

Well when i first got my celi i was really careful with her and would clean her all the time. But after i go my first dent on her i just stoped caring about how she looked. Now i just care about how she runs. My girl cares more about how clean my car is then i do. shes the one the tells me to clean the interior and wash the inside. a lot of people seem to like that, but that's not me. i like girlie girls. mmmmm. my gf doesn't give a damn about cars, just the ones that look nice.

as far as her and my car go, sure she has her little spurts, but it's ok, that's part of a relationship. she's not much one for riding in my car to begin with, but who can blame her, she's used to her stock grand am, then she gets in my celi dropped to the ground. the ride quality isn't the same to her. me? i love the ride of my car 10-fold over her's, but it's all about personal preferences. as far as eating and parking goes, my car already has dings and what not in it, so i really don't fret too much about that, and i let people eat/drink inside, as my car is still a work in progress...anything that gets messed up, is likely on the list to get changed anyway. . anywho, coomer, it's all good, it's all personal opinions, and your girl obviously does not agree w/ you on your practice w/ your car. but disagreeing in relationships is commonplace, and the only thing you can do is agree to disagree, and agree that you both love each other and that it is worth the trouble of your trivial differences. .

Definitly that girl must be insecure to think that she has to compete with a car! You can love both. When my ex was like "imma workin on car today..." i was like "want some help" lol He got mad at me a few times b/c i got caught up in messing with my car and forgot to come over! But they get over it, they just have to know that without the car you probably wouldn't be the same!

*When i park somewhere its sideways (takin up 3-4 spots ) and FAR away! lol My ex and i are the only ones who have ever drivin my car (while its mine anyway). The one time he did drive my car he wouldn't even lemme drive again the rest of the night... I still give him **** to this day b/c he said "nah i'm just figuring out your car so when u race me (he has a 99 civic ex) i'll beat ya lol. riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
