i am calling tomorrow to find out about this story, as far as i always understood the Converts and hatchs did have different length sides by about 2 inches, but due to ViS i thought that was incorrect...
i'm guessing it was right, and i'm going to inform ViS about it

If one of you hatch guys want to measure from the back of the front fender well to the front of the rear well, I will do the same and we can put this urban legend to bed one way or another once and for all.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Not counting the width of my plastic skirts and the width of the plastic piece that runs in the wheel well, the measurement from the back of the front wheel well to the front of the rear wheel well along the bottom of a coupe / convertible is:

70 1/2"

There are a TON of posts on this site that say they are the same. If I include the plastic piece that runs along the inside of the fender well, I get 71" too.
