I would look at getting a gtfour from contiental europe (uk is part of europe but they have right hand drive) that way it is left hand drive and should be easier to drive here in the us. As for getting it past no clue.

this has been discussed: what to do to get it properly legal, how you might do it that is not fully legal, how to register as just a race car, etc...

its a pretty lengthy and pricey process to do it so that its fully legal from what i remember reading.

Its all in this one post called, "so you want a jdm gt4?"... i thought it was a sticky, but i guess not.

problem is that all of the important words in that if you searched are under 4 letters, so the search will not work.

I think its more of a question how long will it take the state to figure out its not legal, and what can they do. I have alwasy had the idea of shipping a gt-4 over, i wonder what happens if you fail emitions, my civic never passed, but nothing happen to it, or me.

What can they do, give you a fine/ticket?

if you plan on driving it on regualr roads dont reg it as a race car, that will get you into big truble if your pulled over.

vin swap

buy a 94 ST that is pure junk and use it for emissions checks and safety inspections

then have the vin plates removable so u can swap them between cars

btw, make sure its the same color car

or wait till the car is 14 years old(i think its 14, maybe 15) and have it imported to canada, legaly

then, any car thats in canada can be brought into the US with no taxes. just drive it down and get it registered and inspected, they cant just deny the car

It is 15. The reason why you can't import a GT-4 is because it won't pass the crash rating. US has strict standards and Canada has even stricter crash standards. But any car 15 years or older doesn't need to meet the standards in Canada. In other words, there is no way in hell you can legally get a legal GT-4. However, you can illegally get one. VIN swap will probably be the cheapest and easiest.

crash ratings are only if you want to import a bunch of them and sell them, like motorex does with skylines.

if the car is for yourself, you dont need to get crash test ratings for it.

Motorex gets crash tested because the sacrafice a car for the testing. For personal you'd have to get it crash tested. The reason some of those dune buggy things get on the road and **** either because older than whatever the rule is or because they're made from an approved kit.

Well. You know what you should do is buy your GT-4 and just drive it across. They just put a bridge up.
