What are the weak points of a GT?

i'm planning to buy a GT (3s-ge 1997) and i really need to know wat the weak points are.

Also, which things do i have to check to make sure the car is alright?

Thanks in advance

Check the timing belt.

Hello mate.

If it's a euro spec car, we're talking a 3S-GE powered lump.

The engine is strong as hell, and there are very few common faults.

If it looks in good condition, and has been serviced correctly, you should be fine. Just look at all the stuff you would on any car.

Blitz Spec NUR Exhaust, somewhere over $1000
Needing another one 18000 miles later, bloody annoying.

Yes it's an euro spec car.

Uhh, ignore him.

I'm not sure if thats the stock exhaust for the 3sge Euro Spec GTs :/ it doesn't look especially aftermarket.,.,.

mines is a UK GT m8 with 3s-ge , iv have the stock exhaust and its just 1 single oval tip, the jap imports are the same so i recon thats an after market one m8 .

As MR E sayed theres not much to look for apart from checking the usual stuff, if you dont know if or when the timing belt was changed best make that the first job on your list, the 3s-ge is ment to me an non interference engine but i wouldnt like to test it lol. only main problem to look for is worn rear anti roll bar bush's, they tend to wear quite a lot but there only a ten minute job to change and cost £10(around 15 euro) for the 2 from toyota.

Aftermarket exhaust on that one I think.

Looks like a Mongoose.
