CAI are not really that hard to install. If you have the right tools to do it, it will be a piece of cake. Just take out the old one and put the new one in to replace it in the same way.
But you can also go custom. Its not that hard to make and can save you a lot of money. Mine was custom made by 95celgt. If I was more experienced at the time I could have made my own and save me at least half the amount I spent. |

There is a DIY thread on my to custom make CAI. Take a look in there. Trust me just give it a shot and you can save some money for other stuff.
Basics Get 2.5 in pipe or whatever size you want. Mine is 3 in and it is great, but I think 2.5 would be better. Any kind of filter you want. And have an exhaust shop or any place that MANDAREL bends pipe do it for you. Just figuar out the angles and do it yourself. |

But if you realy want to learn how to do some thing under your hood, the best way is to just tear it open and remember what goes where. You learn alot faster that way. And get a better understanding of what is going on under there. I have the Injen Short Ram, I love it. It was a synch to instal and I can feel the difference in performance, and it sounds great, even with stock exhaust. You would be amazed. Another good reason for the Short Ram is that is sits high in the engine bay, not as good for the cooler air to get to it, but way better on rainy days when you don't have to worry about sucking up water. Thats why you get a by-pass valve from AEM or whatever.
If you want an intake go for a CAI. Short ram has its advantages but CAI is always better. Better high end power. This post has been edited by hs2g: Feb 11, 2005 - 10:48 PM |

May be true, but still a big advantage over the stock box, so like I said, I'm happy. I know CAI is probably better, but I opted for the Short Ram and it has treated me well, so I would still recomend it. Not necessarily over the Cold Air, just in general.
