I think that this is a huge step in eliminating character of the website.

I agree. This place seems to be falling apart slowly. Just limit the size, shown only once per page, and be done with it.

Coom, your pissing alot of Regular and original members with this nonsense. Look at how many people have left this place is, its on a steady decline.

help these users take a technological step towards the 21st century, the 20th is over.

Same thing here, so I have a dish, but it almost never works correctly.

It's gone, for the time being...signatures are being reformed so that we no longer have to suffer through waiting for everyone's large signature images to load. In the near future(hopefully later today), images will no longer be allowed in signatures.

Avatar settings have changed to allow for images up to 90x70 pixels, rather than the smaller 64 x64, but animations are still not allowed.

Feel free to discuss here in this thread. I'll go into my reasons for this if you guys want.

Well you guys just need to hold on for a couple days...I've got to see what I can program up...I just thought of a new way to possibly limit the size of signatures automatically.

Regardless though, they should be back by the weekend.

You also have the option of turning off signatures. Just look it up in the control panel. Its under board settings

John, would you be willing to spend lots of time enforcing a rule on size-restrictions on signature images?

how hard is it to edit someone's sig when you see they have a huge image? i think we all have time to click a button, delete something. click another button, type a few words to PM the person, and then click another button to send it. if one of the mods or you are the boards, we obviously have time to enforce things like that that we come across...and i look at a lot of the threads, so it's not that big of a deal...

also, how is the avitar and profile pic resized? automatically through Invision?

-John-

So you're willing to actively remove signatures above a certain size then?

Its how its done on other boards. A lot of the problems we've been facing seem to be due to a lack of available moderators.. Coomer, you need more mods. There's no easy win solution besides that. I know you don't trust many people.. but.

Agreed. More moderation.

I am for bringing sigs back, but I've got nothing new to add to the fire. If you want em off, turn em off. I could care less whether or not avatars get bigger. I don't even look at them half the time. Limit sig sizes. Load em once per page. All the stuff you already know, so on and so forth. Taking them away just makes the forums tasteless and blah.

ya its a car site. & i definitely enjoy seeing everyones cars at the bottom. Just decide on a size restriction. I think a size rest. is a very good thing. 'cause some ppl are still on the 56Ker

that size is fine. 400x125pixels is the max. and 20k in file size is the max.

I gotta ask, can the minimum be raised to like 22kb? I cant get any of mine below 22.

Size is what 350x120?

How can you have a 400x125 and only 20K? I went to jpg and had 22k and then bmp went to 107.

try a .png file. that should work, and the quality is just about the same as .jpg. otherwise, i'm not sure how to make it smaller while still a .jpg.
