True? I assume this is just due do a bad install since Dustin has compared side by side. ~snap ![]() -------------------- Past: V6 Swapped 6G Celica, E46 BMW M3, Jeep Wrangler TJ

For those who did this, I'm having a ton of trouble removing the two plastic cups from the old shifter. My short shifter (and most of ebay's) don't come with the 'cup remover'. I've tried it several ways and even pliers, but they're on tight. Helpppp me plz.
![]() Any suggestions? This post has been edited by Starcraftjunkie: Sep 3, 2006 - 11:35 PM |

I used a cresent wrench. I opened it enough for the metal to go through but closed enough to hold the plastic cups. Them I set the wrench on an open vice and hit the shifter with a hammer they popped right off.

Alright.. almost end of the road..
I'm trying to follow the TWM instructions, for reference. If you refer to the TWM instructions, they've removed the sides of the centre console.. any clue how to do that? I've taken out so many screws and it's still stuck in there.. This post has been edited by Starcraftjunkie: Sep 4, 2006 - 4:56 AM |

I've taken out so many screws and it's still stuck in there.. yeah in the photos you can see the sides of the center console removed. i guess they did that just to make it easier. but just follow the directions and you'll get it. while following directions youre gonna have to lift up the short shifter assembly at one point and that's where you won't have/want to remove the sides of the center console. good luck installing it. great mod for a low price. |

Ya, it's almost done, just need to go borrow a bigger socket from a neighbour. Someone should've mentioned the newer bolts are bigger (not just longer) than the stock.
![]() It just happens my socket set for the bigger fittings are broken. ![]() Time to hope my neighbour has one (stupid timing for a holiday) |

No. In fact, about equal. celiracer has a twm, i have a 7th gen. We met up and compared shifters. Both agreed that they were about the same length and couldnt tell any noticable difference. -------------------- Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........

How the heck are you guys getting the ratchet to work with no room? I've been trying to tighten it for the last half hour and all I've done is mad myself mad.
The rear 2 you can somewhat get enough room for, but the front two are just cramped. I'm using one single socket extension for the rears. Is there another tool? Can someone tell me how to remove the centre console trim at the front so I can get more room? I've taken out at least 8 screws and that piece is still attached to the top trim pieces.. argh... |
