i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

dont get us wrong, the 3sgte is a great motor and works really well in the 6th gen. but the car is still running on a motor that was never ment to be in there. so little things can pop up that need fixing.

Huuu !

you think the celica was not ment to have the GS GTE motor in it ???

ok in your actual car maybe ! but lets face it i'm sure Mr toyota din't design the celica with a 140 BHP engin in mind, but instead a GT-4 running a GS GTE rally car !

I would only buy it if the swap was done so well that those little problems dont show up, if they used parts from a gt-4 other then the motor itselft to get it in and running, but if it was done up just right I would probebly jump on it for 8500. and drive it up the coast with a big old grin on my face.

Well, i can personally tell you that this swap was done correctly. The engine had 30K miles when i got it, and i rebuilt it completely before i installed it in my car. It runs amazingly great. It's not missing, it doesn't smoke at all. The only thing on the car that doesn't work, is the speedometer, and that's because the MR2 tranny that i bought didn't come with it, and i wasn't worried about replacing it. But besides that, it's pretty much perfect.

Everything sphinx said is true. I am witness to it all. The darn car is FAST. Sounds great. Just needs that paint job. Motor is really strong. And the speedometer thing, u can feel how fast ur going. U should be able 2 tell by the way ur moving.

Funnyboy - YES the car is registered in CA.

I'm sorry to see this car leave sphinx. I hope you can still help me out when you have time. And maybe I'll let you in on my new project.

David

Man i understand that people get change of hearts and always get bored and want new projects, but seeing all these people with the 3s-gte swap leave or sell out, really makes me not want to even think about a swap.

funny boy:

Yeah, the car is registered in California.

David:

Ofcourse i'll still help you. You and anyone who needs any help. Just because I'm selling my car doesn't mean i'm leaving the board. There are a lot of great people here, and I will be more than happy to give a hand in anyway possible.

Digndoug:

I don't want to discourage you from doing the swap. If anything, i want to see more people with it. You guys have to understand that i'm not selling the car because i'm disapointed in the performance of the car. I'm selling because this was a project that is finally done. Now i just start all over again. When i finish my next project, i'm going to do the same thing.

As for the speedometer, all you have to do is get a speed sensor for a 91 MR2 turbo, and you should be ok.
