Part of the problem with drilling in Alaska is that no one knows exactly how much oil is there. But there do need to be advances in alternative fuel sources and hybrid vehicles. If the German's could have hydrogen powered tanks in World War II why can't we make one now? The taxes on oil is the only reason that we don't have more hybrid vehicles now.

Look at the Hybrid MR2 from the USCC, it's the yellow hybrid that came in first in a street car challenge and it got 40-50mpg, I believe.
