The 4F system, shown above, controls fuel delivery and ignition timing on 4 cylinder engines to 9750 rpm (15,000 optional). Its crank triggered, direct fire coil pack replaces both distributor type and OEM distributorless ignitions. It is programmable in 250 rpm increments with 64 boost retard locations available for turbocharged engines and ignition retard under nitrous activation.

The standard F delivers a powerful, long duration spark and is suitable on engines with specific power outputs of up to 200hp/liter. With the addition of an MSD DIS, power levels can exceed 400hp/liter. The 4F comes complete with coils and crank trigger. Fabrication of a crank sensor mount and installation of trigger magnets is required

How much of a performance gain do you expect from all this?

he will gain full tuneability

how much power he gets depends on the tuning skills of the tuner and the exact setup he will be running with his 7agte project

the thing i hate about SDS is that you can only see one value of one map at a time and that it has wierd dataloging.

they say that no laptop requirement is a plus, i say its a bad thing

also, i didnt know that they charge for software updates

as of this point in time, the SDS has fuel and timing control in 250rpm increments

MS has fuel at 500rpm increments, and im not sure on the timing control, yet

two of my friends have 240z's with 280zx turbo engines swapped in. both have FMIC and upgraded turbos

one has SDS and a bigger FMIC and slightly bigger turbo

the other we are installing MSnS on tomorrow

should be interesting to compair them, but from what i have seen, the MS is way easier to tune

btw, i have dealt with SDS, UTEC, DFI gen 6 and a few other stand alones and piggy backs

the update is just to add data logging
i agree with you on the no labtop thing
my emanger could see the whole map frown.gif

now for the megasquirt thing

in short the shop i'm using is formiliar with sds and uses it alot the lastest being a S2000 pushing 600 horse

and the only dyno for miles knows how to tune the sds so it was a win win for me to get an sds i'm sure the megasquirt is a great system
