Well, I was just goin to tell everyone that I am selling my celica. I love it a lot, but it has way to many problems... I think that I should have thought about it when I bought a car with 160k miles on it ... Oh well we all make mistakes. The car looks really good, but it just has problems and I dont have the time and money to keep spending 500 dollars at a time to fix things..
So, I've decided between two cars now.. I've been driving my dad's 94 Miata and I really like the handling.. Its not too fast but its fun to drive. I am either going to get a 1999 10th Anniv. Miata (the 6 spd) or a 2000 Celica GT-S.. Does anyone have any opinions on which would be a better car in the long run? I would really like a convertible cause they are awesome, but the GT-S is faster. I dont want to race or anything though. Plus the Miata is RWD, and I would feel better about modding a RWD than having a FWD car with alot of horsepower and nothing to do with it. What do you think I should go for?? They are very comparable in price -Rob -------------------- ![]() |

Personally I hate both of the cars you listed, but if I HAD to choose between the two I would stay with the Celica line. I loved the old Mazda lines like the RX-7 and I like the RX-8 but I really don't trust their cars much any more. Toyota has proven time and time again that they are reliable. So, I would stay there.

I would say Miata. Yes it's getting away frmo the Celica line but it sounds like you'll be happier in it. What about a 2000 MR2 Spyder? Those are a BLAST and just as practical as a Miata, and still in the Toyota lineup

How much do the MR2 Spyders go for... I dont want to spend more than 11k on a car... idk Im kind of reluctant about buying an Mr2 because I know two people that have died in them... one was my cousin and the other was a friend... But they were both the old Mr2s...
Also, Mazda has pretty good reliability in my experience.. we own two mazdas.. a 94 miata and a 96 b3000 truck and both of them have never had problems.. My friend has an Mx-3 with 180k miles and the original engine and has never had problems.. They say that toyotas will run forever, but I think I must have gotten a bad egg ... Mine has had problem after problem.. and I know that it will happen with a car that is 11 years old, but I am tired of it Anyone have suggestions on a new car?? I want something sporty that has a good amount of aftermarket parts to modify it... I do not want a Honda so dont try and convince me lol . -Rob -------------------- ![]() |
