Just curious if you know anybody that has a problem with drugs

To me, atleast in this area. It seems to be a large majority of people.
by drugs I mean, pot, pills, cocaine, heroin, exc.

You can even mention alcohol abuse.

Just wondering if its this area or others parts or the country/world have this problem.
Please try to keep this as clean as possible, I dont want to have it deleted.

Thanks
DEF

I very good friend of mine had a problem with drugs in college. It came to the point where he would be trying to hit up anyone he knew or who they knew for any left over or excess perscription medications.

I actually stopped hanging out with him because he was getting so lost into the drugs and stuff. I didnt want to be around all that so i basically just stopped calling or going over to hang out.

He had the problem for about 2.5 years. It all came down though when he found out that his old roommate commited suicide by ODing on drugs. A week later he will still pretty shaken by it, and his girlfriend and him were taking something to get thier mind off of it. That night his girlfriend ended up ODing on whatever they were doing. He was so messed up from the stuff, he didnt know or couldnt call for help. She ended up dying while he was there high in the room. He was sent to rehab to get clean. After that he was brought up on charges for manslaughter due to neglegence. I wrote a letter to the judge by request of his lawyer to help try and move the charges from criminal court to drug court. A difference of years in jail or probation and more rehab.

Thankfully it was moved to drug court and he is out of rehab and trying to put his life back together. Its sad because he was one of the most brilliant programmers i knew. Even during his drug problem, he held a 3.75 GPA in CS. But because of the drugs he dropped out. Currently he is working on getting a few microsoft certifications as well as finishing up his degree.

I feel bad that i didnt do anything or intervene when i saw the problem. Basically i just left him and let it all be since i didnt think anything would happen. Of course thats what everyone says in hindsight. But at least i know now what drugs can do since it happen to someone i knew very well.

I know this sounds like an afterschool PSA, but please intervene and say something if someone you know is getting dependent on or using drugs frequently. People die, and others lives are ruined. If you care about them do something!

In my area it seems that pot isnt even talked about anymore. Thats just an everyday drug - no biggie. The local high schools are into Coke. After my friend and her boyfriend moved out of their apartment her sister and I went to go clean the place up and it was disgusting. Remains of Coke lines on mirrors and razor blades for cutting it up were laying around.

Ive never even tried a drug let alone a cigarette so I really dropped a lot of people in my life cuz they got into drugs.

Weed is such a jr. high/high school drug. I think after high school its time to grow up and stop smoking it or atleast move on to the harder drugs. Preferbly stop doing any drugs ;-)

well last week I watched someone get put into the ground because of it.

Very long story short: The person was doing the usual things that they do on a saturday. He was so messed up that he tried to rush out of a house, fell down a set of stairs busted his head open and died.

This doesnt seem to have an affect on anyone he knew. They just kicked up the activities a notch. So I can see that in the very near future someone else is going to die.

I hate the fact that Pot is not even considered a drug to the youth of America.

I dont know keep posting guys, I like to read your experiences.

Pretty much everyone my age I know in Yakima is into drugs or has been into them. Lots of the people I used to hang out with were heavily into weed, then it escalated to mushrooms as the drug of choice. Then coke came along, and they were all into that for a while. Now they're into meth, weed, and alcohol. Thankfully no-one has died yet, but a couple people are in jail and all of their lives are in ruins. And since cops don't care much about drugs here and their parents don't do much, they only get worse and worse. frown.gif

I presently work for the FAA, and they are a no drug work environment. I had my share of messing around when I was younger, but I won't touch anything now. Its a age thing and a fad to most people. I grew out of it.

It's pretty bad nowadays... I know sooo many people who smoke pot, do X, and plenty more who drink. I, myself, have never done drugs or smoked.

I know a kid in a class of mine that does coke lines almost everyday. I'm afraid he's going to OD sometime. He must do anywhere from 10-20 lines a day.

I know a lot of people who are into drugs. My best friend in Jr. high now lives in a halfway house because of it all. Its really sad to see him anymore...He was a very talented drummer. In 8th grade, his band was so good. they could have made it really big.. I can't even begin to explain his abilities behind a drumset. He was too good for our schools jazz band. He had like $20,000 wrapped up in 4 different drumsets. Then the drugs started kicking in on him. The band fell apart, and the further down he went into his habits.

It was sad to see... I remember one night he called me crying his eyes out. He was on something, he wasn't making too much sense. He told me I was the best friend he'd ever had and he's sorry for what he was about to do. I didn't understand what he was talking about until I heard him cock his gun. It was the worst night of my life. I guess he didn't know his mom was still home or something because she ended up walking into his room to find him with the gun to his head. It was probably the last time I was ever really able to talk to him. He wasn't at school for the rest of the year and I couldn't get a hold of him. He obviously went to a rehab center and got some major counseling. It didn't really help though. He's now in the worst condition of his life from what I've heard. My sister said she saw him like a month ago and according to her, he's skin-n-bones, pale, circles around his eyes.

Its really sad...

I wish there was something that could be done for the excessive drug use in our society today. It's depressing to know about stories like all of ours. frown.gif

I'm sorry about all the friends and people that you guys have turned away
Most people that go to rehab only meet other people that introduce new drugs into thier lives.
I wouldnt doubt that your friend is on heroin now. Rehab seems to be the place people make the connection to heroin.

most of my friends smoke weed and it is very popular in my area and also in the region. pills are also very popular in my area. some coke goes around but most of my buddies stay away from that.

i did lose a good friend last year to drug use. he killed himself after breaking up with his girlfriend. he was on drugs at the time of his death. dont ignore a friend when they're having problems or doing too much drugs. its usually a sign that they're not doing well and they need help. if me and my buddies knew what was going on and payed a little more attention, my friend might still be around today.

i personally stay away from drugs. i know too many people that have ruined their lives from drugs. but i like to drink...in moderation. only on weekends and days i have off from work.

AT LEAST 50% of my friends do drugs at college, and usually on a daily (Or hourly) basis. I must know 15+ dealers at college. Hell, on spring fling we had Cypress Hill and my friends lit up on stage in front of Hartford PD and Public Safety and smoked for a while! Pot is such an everyday thing, it is like water. Half my campus is currently trying to get me drunk and high ALL the time!

I am 22 and have been driniking Alcohol since I was about 9 or so, and still never been drunk. Never did/tried ANY kinda drug, including cigs!

I drink/smoke on the weekends, but dont concider it a problem. Just make sure that it doesn't become an adiction and make sure that you already have plans for yourself. I don't think that drugs destroy lifes, I think that people destroy their lifes. Drugs can just help.
