So as you can see, I have no idea what has happened. Keep in mind that I have taken this road many times before for the past 3 years. The road was asphalt, and I just plain didn't turn anymore on the road. I was fine until the apex of the road. If you could point out my mistake for me, I would appreciate it.  Only thing I can think of is that I went up to the mountains on my car also (dirt road), and I hit a pot hole really hard on the front right wheel, and maybe I'm thinking, one of the steering components just gave out during the turn.  You know our cars aren't the lightest thing in the world.. So I'm bit confused on it. I'll keep you guys updated on the car situation and insurance etc etc.

So far the adjuster came and talked about it.  Also, got a call from the towing company, and they'll tow the car. From talking to the adjuster for a bit, he says most likely not even the seats (answering the PM from earlier) aren't even salvageable. They have twisted also. My headlights are fine though.  biggrin.gif

Edit(Add): Oh yeah, thanks for the offer Raven, but I think the only reason you offered, was because you knew that I wouldn't be able to fulfill it. Not saying you're a bad person, I'm sure you're happy dappy slappy like most people are, but making a promise that you know I (emphasize on I here) won't be able to take you up on, is just uncalled for. But thanks for the no labor offer on the 3SGTE.

From your picture and the diagram provided it appears that one of your tires is pretty low on tread. Again this is just an observation from the picture. also ive noticed a lot of FWD drivers tend to hit there breaks in the middle of a turn or the second they start to hear tire squeel. almost every time i see this happen i see the car begin to either understeer or the weight of the car shift causing it to slide or break traction. either way from the way the car looks be happy that you walked away from it. ive been to many accidents on canyon/mt roads/back roads to know that it could have been a lot worse. even though you drove this road a million times there could have been
1> loose gravel
2> your tire pressure was to low or high or uneven
3> water
4> Oil

all these factors will come into play when driving around any corner.

Exactly what I was thinking... looks like he stayed on the brake coming though the corner instead of getting back on the gas. Typical FWD understeer right off the road. Of couse given the speed it may not have made a difference, and there certainly could have been something on the road like you mentioned. I have found that even a slight layer of dew on the road surface makes for some slippery conditions sometimes!

Just remember that while you lost a lot, you still have your life, and you're still able to walk and talk and all that good stuff! Keep your head up...

And the rest of yous: Drive Safe Out There!

Yeah a question popped into my head about this the other day... you said that you were very familiar with the road, but when describing the accident you said that you saw the 25mph sign and "said a few words, started slowing down". By that I assume you were swearing, so which is correct? Were you familiar with the road, or not?
