could also need recharging, I would take ac to a shop you cant really recharge it yourself.

Get ready to open up your pocketbook. Simply recharging doesnt fix the problem, because it wouldnt suddenly lose its coolant unless you have a leak or hardware malfunction. G/F just had it done in her civic... $1050 for new compressor and compressor clutch and install with leak detection and recharge.

Just take it out. Less weight, less load on your motor, better gas mileage, faster. You have windows dont you? wink.gif

goto pep boys or strauss,
buy an ac coolant/tester all in one for about $5
hook it up to ac hose. if its in red, needs coolant. if its in green, then u need to spend money on parts..

Ok, new question, didnt want to start another thread as this one's not too old..
What if your compressor doesnt come on?
Over the last summer and winter it worked, now it doesn't. When I turn it on, absolutly nothing happens except for the AC light coming on (no blinking;) cannot hear the compressor come on, idle does not drop, and no loss of power. Checked fuses with a dmm, checked wiring; also switched the relay with the fan relay to see if that was the problem, still nothing.
Anyone have any suggestions?
